New Hotel Charlemagne Brussels

Twee dagen verbleven, van zaterdag tot maandag. De prijs was heel aantrekkelijk, dus geboekt. Ongeveer 1.5KM van het centrum klopt wel aardig, naar de Grote Markt is goed te lopen, net niet te ver. Het is een 4**** hotel, maar eigenlijk verdient men dit niet. Het is op zijn best een 3*** hotel, kamer die wij geboekt hadden was met upgrade naar een Bussines kamer. Toen wij de kamer betraden was er geen minibar, geen airco en zitje, reden waarom wij een upgrade juist genomen hadden, ook moesten wij een deposit betalen voor een minibar die er niet was. Proberen te bellen met receptie, helaas telefoon ook stuk. Bij de receptie stond inmiddels een lange rij mensen dus na het verkennen van de buurt nog maar eens geprobeerd. De receptionist gaf toe dat het een standaard kamer was en niet de upgrade kamer, maar hij kon niets doen, het hotel zat vol. Volgende dag probeerde men eerst te beweren dat er een standaard kamer geboekt was, maar toen ik vroeg de reservering te zien en men deze erbij pakte gaf men toch toe dat ik het juist had. Ik kreeg dus de andere kamer, mocht 1 dag gratis ontbijten voor het ongemak. Het ontbijt kost €22 per persoon, deze is niet fantastisch, zeker niet als je bedenkt dat een vergelijkbaar ontbijt op een terras op De grote Markt €9 kost (p.p). Op de laatste ochtend was er geen warm water, volgens de receptionist was het een storing van de CV ketel, ik heb op het internet inmiddels gelezen dat dit wel vaker gebeurt. Vaak als iedereen tegelijk wil douchen.

We stayed four nights at this hotel. The location on this hotel is great, on the same street with the European Union Headquarters. The Tube (subway) is next to the EU building, in less than ten minutes you are at central station and the Grand Plaza. If you walk through the park with the large Arch there is a wonderful Car Museum with beautiful antique cars. There are several restaurants nearby. However, the carpet in the room had a large stain. The volume on the TV is pre-set, and I could hardly hear it, the thermostat is also at a minimum temperature. It got hot for two days and we could not lower the temperature. The elevator is extremely small. On two separate days we saw two couples returning room key-cards with no luggage. We also saw two policemen in the lobby on one occasion.

Great location, but the rooms were tired. Really needs refurbishment. Wouldn't pay the full rack rate for this place but the weekend rate was pretty good.

Equipements à améliorer (ampoules sdb, chauffage inefficace, douche) pénalisent un bon voir excellent potentiel.

very welcoming staff, specially the night staff (between 24 th aug to 27 th aug) was awesome n very helpful, in guiding about the place. The place is centrally located, close to metro station, lot of eating joints are there and the rooms are clean, comfortable, we had a nice stay in such a reasonable price.

Nice intimate hotel well located close to the European Parliament district with very friendly, multi-lingual staff. Rooms are spotless and comfortable with good contemporary interior design. No 24 hour room service but there are a number of late night restaurants within a city block of the hotel - critical for business travelllers who check in late.

Great value at the price I paid. It would have been awful value at the prices posted in the lobby.
