La Posada Inn at Hacienda Pinilla

Customer service is simply bad. We had some issues with our room but no one cared. Also cleanliness is not that great. At times dead insects were not removed after cleaning. Would not go back.

The hotel is nice and peaceful. Almost too peaceful. You need a car to travel around Hacienda Pinilla. The fitness center will cost you extra $10th per day! AND you need to travel almost 4km to get there....restaurant has no value....very expensive and not that good. It is a good alternative if you do jot want to pay for the Marriott near by and if you take a car. Do not pay more than $130 for the room as it is not worth it.

We spent five days at La Posada as an affordable alternative to the nearby sister property JW Marriott. The rooms were very nice (included microwave & refrigeratory) and rates included a continental breakfast (rice/beans/scrambled eggs/plantains every day), free high speed internet in the room with a cable (WI-FI from pool, restaurant area), and free shuttle to anywhere on the Hacienda Panilla property including the beach club, Marriott, or fitness center. The beach club is awesome with miles of white sugar sand, lots of sea shells, and an affordable bar & restaurant. The pool at La Posadas was clean with ample lounging chairs and a bar area . On our walks we even saw howler monkeys! You can't beat the price for the location. Staff is friendly & helpful. The on-site restaurant is excellent and affordable. Lola's is nearby. Don't even consider staying here unless you have a 4x4--- the washboard gravel roads are bumpy with plenty of pot holes. Despite the challenging roads, I would defintely stay here again. There isn't much to do after dark..so if you are looking for night life, go somewhere else. If you want nature, quiet, and privacy with mid-range emnities-- I would highly recommend La Posada.

Good place to get in touch with Guanacaste's wild life. While we were walking to our room a rabbit crossed our path. Iguanas and birds where often seen in the hotel grounds. Also nearby beaches are Tortugas nesting places. Hotel rooms are downhill so prepare for a short walk uphill to get to the pool, parking or restaurant. Beach Club is 2km away and in the same "Hacienda" is located JW Marriot hotel and some high class apartments/houses complex. There is no convenience store inside the hacienda so if you like some groceries you need to get to Tamarindo. I am costarican and this was my first visit to Playa Avellanas and it is now one of my favorite beaches in CR. Tamarindo and Grande are also very beautiful. My 5 years old son didn't wanted to come back home. He loved the place. Only low ligths are the road between Santa Cruz and Pinilla and the fact that we had to change room because the A/C was out of work.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel at the end of March 2012. The room had a kitchen sink, microwave and small refrigerator which was a nice touch. There is a pool within walking distance that is nice, but the nicest part was the beach club which is about a mile away and there's an hourly shuttle to take you there. It has a beautiful pool and is right on the beach. There's a smaill restaurant and bar at the beach club. The nachos were good and the drinks weren't as expensive as they were at the other costa rica hotels we stayed at. The location of the hotel is nice in that it's in a gated community. There is a JW Marriott in the same community, but it is 2 miles away. You can shuttle to it, but you have to pay $50 per person to use the JW's facilities. $40 of that goes towards food/drinks and the other $10 is to use their onsite pool. We tried to go into the nearest town, which is Tamarindo, and discovered that it's a $40 cab ride each way to drive the 12 kms from the hotel to the town. We decided to skip it and enjoy more time at the beach club.

The hotel is very nice! The areas are so beautiful in a wide extension of forrest and beach! Great beach and wonderful landscapes...the room is so big and comfortable.

Hotel Posada. I love it there. It may not be for everyone, but that's just fine with me. Quiet, beautiful, laid back. This is not a place for the glamourous/party types. There isn't much night life, other than the howler monkeys after sunset. This is a great place to bring a family, or a nice hide away for a honey moon or romantic retreat. Casual yet elegant. Rustic yet pampered. Adventure and relaxation.

Long distance beaches , but beautiful. The breakfast could be much better and variety. The room and the personal very nice.

Couldn't be any happier with the way we were treated by the staff! Really nice environment, close to several beaches (not a walking distance option) but the hotel has shuttles that take you to them. The restaurants food was really good for what it was included. The prices for the food was very acceptable if compared to eating at a restaurant in the US. Would totally recommend it. If booking, make sure you have a car so you are able to explore. If not, you'll be stuck. Tamarindo is a town fairly close with good night life and perfect if you want to go shopping.
