Grand Hotel La Favorita Sorrento

La Favorita was the perfect base from which to drive to Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. Its location in the heart of beautiful Sorrento and underground parking meant that we could walk through the old town in the evening or down to the port to catch the ferry to the island of Capri for a day trip. La Favorita was completely refurbished in 2010 and has a lovely rooftop pool and terrace for sunbathing. The service was excellent and they even have a courtesy room with a shower which we used to freshen up before travelling back to the airport.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip due to a medical emergency, however, the staff at La Hotel Favorita were super friendly and helpful with all of our travel questions. We really regret not being able to experience this hotel.

Sorrento is beautiful and view of the Bay of Naples from the rooftop patio is picture postcard perfect.Takin a trip to Pompeii is a must. Easy ferry trip to Naples for sight seeing just a few minutes walk from hotel.While there is no restaurant on site there is an affiliated one just a couple of minutes walk that may be the prettiest place we ever ate with outstanding food. Ask for [...] to be your waiter and listen to his recommendations.

I booked this hotel for the first part of my honeymoon. I booked everything last minute. I had a choice between this hotel and another one, but the rooftop pool won me over. La Favorita was a little more pricey than the other hotels I looked at, but it was worth every penny. The location was in the middle of everything, yet on a sidestreet, so it was quiet. When we pulled up to the hotel, we weren't sure we had the right hotel, it certainly looked alot more expensive than what we spent! The courtyard had beautiful white/grey tiles, there were mini lemon trees all over, and little table set up. The lobby of the hotel was amazing! The men at the front desk were very nice, very easy to communicate with, and very quickly gave us our key card and had someone help us to our room. The room was so beautiful! It was completely tiled with hand painted traditional italian tiles, the bed was more like a king than a queen, there was a flat screen tv with satellite tv, and a huge bathroom with a hairdryer. Everything was immaculate! We had a balcony, not much of a view other than people's laundry and an interesting family that lived across the way, but it didn't matter. We then went to check out the pool on the roof. They give you a few cards to exchange for towels when you use the pool. They are very strict with the hygeine, the sign with the rules of the pool said you had to shower before going in the pool, which was fine with me! The pool was beautiful! The pictures do it no justice. It was so relaxing to sit up there and have a drink and look to the streets below and watch all the people. The men at the front desk, helped us find places to go, the arranged a boat ride around Capri excursion for us (FYI, they charge the excursions to your room, but when you settle the bill, you must pay the excursions in cash, so make sure you have it on hand) and they arranged car service to take us to the train station in Napoli, since we missed the boat to Napoli. Oh, we ate dinner in their restaurant a couple of blocks away, I forget the name right now, and the food was delicious, but the service was a little off. I am accustomed to the relaxed atmospheres in Italian restaurants, but when you have to get up and search for your waiter for the bill after waiting 45 minutes, it's a little frustrating. But I must say the food was worth it! THis hotel was worth every penny, and if I hadn't prepaid the rest of my trip in advance, I would have cancelled everything else and stayed there!
