Beijing Xinghaiqi Holiday Hotel

Not the best hotel but has everything you need. Good value for your money.

Don't come in expecting anything beyond what you're paying for and you're golden. Room was a little dirty, but not disgusting, just enough room to sleep really. Reception knew a little english and generally tried to be helpful and there's a little store with bottled water and other necessities in the lobby. Beds are incredibly hard, but that's pretty much the norm with China if you're paying less than $50 a night. You can rent a computer in some of rooms for a fee that I believe equates to about $3 a day (USD). There's no WiFi here - just an ethernet connection in the room. Location is pretty decent, but not the best in Beijing - I'd try one of the few hotels in the Hutongs if you want a similar experience for a similar price with a more interesting location.

This is my second trip to Beijing. This hotel is in a dusty frontage, not so clean. My Mom had a hard time calling the hotel to connect to my room because there's no speaking english front desk. No wifi at your room. The first hotel we stayed in 161 Hostel is so much cheaper but better.

Hotel room was very basic but adequate. Room we got was quite small but ok for 2. TV provides 30+ channels where only 1 channel in English. Bed was hard and bathroom was always wet and almost impossible to be kept dry as there is no proper shower cubicle so shower waters runs throughout the bathroom. Location great. Buses run in front of the hotel. Great walk to the Forbidden City. Was great though.

The rooms were clean, but there were no dressers in the room, so clothing had to either stay in your bag or be stacked on the floor. Condom dispensers on the wall and late night telephone calls from men speaking in Chinese seemed to indicate that this was a place where it was mostly "one" night stays. Not too reassuring! There were two of us traveling in different rooms and the experience was the same.

Good location! Many small restaurants and pubs in the neighborhood. Rented cycles and had a fantastic morning trip in the hutong and parks. Hotel could have been cleaner! Hard beds. Friendly staff. Small shop and desk for booking tours and tickets for acrobatic shows. Very helpfull.

An awesome place to stay - close to the Houtong and realitivly easy to find. Staff were great and really helpful. Free use of internet in the foyer a fantastic bonus !( down side -its a bit of a hike from the subway - bit thats not their fault! )

There was construction across the street, they said they had computers and internet but thats only if you choose the room with a computer or you bring your own. I had to go out of my way just to use the internet for a few minutes. The beds are very very hard. You can not control the temperature in the room so at night it was very hot even if I left the window open all night with it being -14 degrees.
