Tawana Bangkok Hotel (The)

Nothing wrong with the place, but it's a 3 star hotel labelled 5 stars. Someone was labelled it wrong! Toilet is old, shower curtain is dirty plastic, no fire sprinklers and windows are screwed shut (beware!), toiletries lacking, room decor very dated, carpet tack strip coming through carpet (stabbed my toe on carpet tack strip). Again, it's just a mediocre 3 star hotel, in a reasonable location.

This is the worst hotel in BKK for such price, old, not clean, very poor breakfast, and they ever ask you 900Bht/personne for people who would like visit your room after 6pm !!! safety reason they claim !!! but if you pay 900Bht anyone may follow you to your room !!! We asked our friends (1 couple) to watch some pics of our rescent trips on our computer in our room at 9pm and the staff asked us to pay 900x2=1800Bht for guest fees!!! Business business.!!.. STAY AWAY from this hotel, with my wife we'll never stay there anymore. REALLY TOO BAD

Decent enough to stay, but not near worth it's price. Switched to a nearby cheaper hotel and was much nicer, and better value for money. If you must, choose this one, but recommend look elsewhere. That said, busy staff friendly.

洗面台の排水不能．浴槽で洗顔。シャワーの温水低温．朝のシャワー寒くて。 息子の部屋、325号室、ゴキブリが出ました。（驚） 料金は大変良心的でした。 朝食のバイキング、もう少しアイテムが欲しかったです。 大変いい場所に有りながら、ただ低料金しかセールスポイントが無いのは残念！従業員の意識改革一つでワンランク上のホテルを目指せると思いますが。 とりあえず、今回はお世話になりました。

I had a hard time falling asleep because the walls were thin. I could hear people walking down the hall and doors opening and closing. The internet in the lobby is not free, they charge 70 baht per hour. They provide Bangkok Post for free. You can walk to the Metro but not to BTS.

I stayed at this hotel two times during my trip to Asia. The first time I stayed there were stray hairs in the tub as well as on the towels I was expected to use. During the second stay, the bathroom was covered in flys and no matter how many I killed there seemed to be more in the tub, on the walls, and on the towels. The ac also did not seem to work and the room was really warm, which sucked in the high humidty of Thailand. Although, the rooms looked really nice the looks were very deciving.

I have been visiting BKK 3-6 times a year since 1970 and have stayed in almost all the 5 and 4 star hotels there. I needed an extra night when my hotel was sold out. I have always wanted to try the TAWANA but somehow hadn't. I found it to be very pleasant with spacious rooms, friendly staff and -for me- in an excellent location. As a listed 5 star hotel, do understand that it is not the Oriental or Peninsula but for tourists who like the shopping, dining and night life in the Silom area, the hotel is a steal at the special ORBITZ rate and I can highly recommend it.

Nice hotel. Very convenient to BTS Saladeng station. Clean room and very large bed.

Keine fünf Sterne leider, eher drei bis vier Sterne. Das Interieur ist aus den 80er-Jahren und seitdem unverändert. Auch die Außenanlagen können nicht überzeugen. Der Pool ist sehr klein (max. 8 m²), das "Fitness-Studio" besteht aus zwei rostigen Trimrädern und ein paar Hanteln. Hier ist dringender Renovierungsbedarf.

We stayed here for three nights. The facilities such as the gym closes at 6 PM. I found that very disappointing. The SPA also closed early as 8PM. The location of the hotel is not the best, you have to walk about 5 minutes to the Skytrain and by night you have to walk through the market to get to your hotel. The staff downstairs wore generally helpful.
