Patong Paragon Resort and Spa Phuket

A nice hotel at the far north end of Patong beach, which can be both a good and bad thing. Good because it's *slightly* less crowded than other parts of the beach. Bad because everything else in Patong is near the middle or southern end, meaning you're in for a long walk or stuck negotiating with a taxi/tuktuk driver on how many hundreds of bhat he will charge to take you a couple of kilometers if you want to eat at one of the many restaurants or partake in the nightlife. The walk is fine during the day - it can actually be nice to stroll along the beach. However, the northern part of the beach is fairly lonely and unsupervised at night, so you'll want to stick to the interior roads, which unfortunately have narrow sidewalks (when they aren't simply used as parking spaces for cars), and are choked with traffic during the high season. The hotel itself is nice - the room was very spacious with a large sitting area and balcony. The bathroom was also very cool - enormous and nicely decorated with both a shower and a separate jacuzzi tub. The real standout at the hotel though is the pool, which is beyond amazing. It is fairly large, and fills almost the entire courtyard. Some of the seating areas are on "islands", and are connected via bridges. There is also a swim-up bar. In our three days there, the pool was never crowded. Like most of the beachfront hotels in Patong, you actually have to cross a public road to get from the hotel to the beach. Unfortunately, the Paragon lies right in the curve of a busy winding road (so you can't see what's coming until late) that then leads right into a busy roundabout. Since there are no traffic signals, every crossing will feel like a brush with death as you simultaneously try to dodge traffic screaming down the winding hill, and cars/motorcycles emerging from the roundabout. In your flip flops. There's probably nothing the hotel can do about this, but something to keep in mind if you're not confident running for your life across a busy intersection. Overall, it was a good place to stay for a decent price. If you need to be in the middle of everything, you'll be better off picking something further south. If you want a safe distance from the busier parts of Patong, but still have some access, the Paragon is a good choice.

hotel was spotless. room was excellent. service was very good but english could be improved. the breakfast was excellent with very good choice and continually different. room service good. no complaints

Le personnel est sympathiques et réactif, le plus c'est la situation de l'hotel idéal pour les familles en quetes de quiétude. les chambres sont belles et bien équipées (sdb spacieuse). La restauration est de qualité et le petit déjeuner très copieux et très diversifié.

Absoutely amazing - the pool is great, buffet breakfast had western food as well as dimsum, and the people are really friendly. The one and only criticism I would make is that the beds are really hard. For us it wasnt too big an issue but for others it could be. Would definitely recommend this hotel
