THE BYZANTIUM HOTEL and SUITES ISTANBUL

Bilderna på hemsidan är fantastiska, verkligheten är en annan. Jag saknar ord, jag har rest många gånger och aldrig upplevt nåt liknande. Personalen hade ingen koll, kassaskåpen funkade inte, varken i mitt rum eller polarens rum. Första kvällen fick jag dela rum med polaren, de hade gjort lite fel i bokningen. Långt ifrån 4 stjärnor, i min mening 2 stjärnor.

Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe von vielen Hotspots. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Beim Check-In gab es "Over-Booking". Die von uns gebuchten "De Luxe"-Suiten waren voll. Stattdessen wurden uns normale Räume angeboten, einer im Halbkeller!! Wenn man bei einem 3-Tages Aufenthalt Zimmer wechseln muss, weil die Reservierung (4 Monate vorher!) nicht berücksichtigt wurde... ist das mühsam.

Having stayed in as many of these types of hotels the one thing I always do is check my reservation. 48 hours after booking and 24 hours before check in. This tyne because I was travelling with my 5 year old and we were getting in late I called a third time just to be sure. Lo and behold, 1am with a daughter with an ear infection after 19 hours of straight travel, no room. He walked us and our bags to a place down the street which was clearly lower quality and then the next day we were supposed to check out again at 10 and move back which we had to do ourselves. The man who acted like manager or owner, never said sorry, never did anything to make it right. He claimed we were give his best rooms but I saw a few other open rooms the next day which were large with views.

Hôtel très bien placé pour les visites, rue très sympatique et animée mais sans nuisances sonores malgré tous ses restaurants. Propreté de l'hôtel parfaite, personnel accueillant et dévoué. Petit déjeuner continental parfait. Grand bleu, soleil et 30° mi juin. Bref, un excellent séjour dans une ville magique, on ne demande qu'à y retourner :-)

Top-zentrale Lage mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Das Frühstück ist nicht überwältigend aber o.k. Die Zimmer sind zwar klein, dafür aber sauber und gut ausgestattet. Herausragend ist das Restaurant auf der Dachterasse. Die Aussicht in der Nacht ist atemberaubend! Rechts die Hagia Sophia, links die Blaue Moschee und auf der anderen Seite der Bosporus. Das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis ist absolut o.k. Zu empfehlen!

Die Lage des Hotels ist hervorragend für Erkundungstouren zu Fuß in die Altstadt. Das Zimmer 105 (direkt über der Küche + Ventilator/Dunstabzug am eigenen "Balkon") sollte unbedingt gemieden werden! Unser Ersatzzimmer 303 hingegen entsprach den Erwartungen. Das TV-Programm ist äußerst Türkei-lastig (die meisten anderen Satellitenprogramme haben fast immer sehr schlechten oder keinen Empfang). Das Frühstücksbuffet war ganz in Ordnung (die türkische Wurst allerdings nicht zu empfehlen). Das Personal zeigte sich immer freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuverlässig. Unterm Strich eignet sich dieses Hotel gut für klassische 3-4-Tage-Städtereisen.

The staff seemed nice, but they're overcharging guests who don't know what to expect in the city. Do NOT let them arrange a ride to the airport, you'll pay almost twice what a cab will cost. The room was so small that it was difficult to open my small bag, my back-pack, and still have a surface available to set anything down. The air-conditioning is a joke. It wasn't that warm when I was there and it was still hot and stuffy in the room. This place is not worth the money paid. A hostel would be more comfortable. Skip this one--there's too many hotels in the area to waste your money on this one.
