Wilshire Grand Los Angeles

We stayed at this hotel based upon its centralized downtown location and proximity to the University of Southern California (USC) campus as we were moving our son into the USC dorms for the first time. We loved the enormous 400 sq. ft. size of the junior suite with 2 comfortable double beds, flat screen TV, sofa seating area and wonderfully sized double bathrooms. The rooms were immaculate and the staff were incredibly kind, helpful and courteous. Hotel parking was also very convenient and safe. While the hotel will be closed at year-end 2011 for 5 years to undergo a billion dollar renovation, we plan to return to this hotel to stay when we visit our son during the fourth quarter of 2011. The hotel is conveniently located close to shopping (Macy's), restaurants, and the subway. Overall, this was a perfect retreat after a tiring day of moving boxes and other belongings into a college dormitory! We look forward to future stays!

Very nice hotel. Upgraded to a junior suite which was nice, two bathrooms, spacious. Overall quiet except in the morning heard a lot of banging above us. ?? Safe for your car and yourself. If your intention is to be downtown your entire visit then its perfect however it is far from Beverly Hills/Hollywood area.

Overall my family's experience with this hotel was good. The Wilshire Grand is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and we could clearly see the Staples Center from our window. The lobby areas were well appointed. The hall carpets and walls were well-appointed. Furniture in the room was old, cheap and worn. The bed was great but the desk, coffee table and chairs need to be replaced. The sofa in our junior suite upgrade was also nice. It would've been great had there been a mini fridge in the room to keep water and fruit. The staff were very accommodating once they realized we were good tippers; they were aloof at first. One staff interaction I didn't appreciate was being asked to show my room key upon entering the hotel one night at 11 p.m. I'm a Black woman and believe it or not, I think my daughter, granddaughter and I were racially profiled by a Black male door/security guard who asked that we show the room key to prove we were guests at the hotel. No one else asked this of us our entire stay regardless of time of entry! Also, Black woman at Guest Services desk was distant and cold. Everyone else was great! We appreciated the 12 noon check out time as well.

CONS: *Woken up all night to people screaming and running down the halls. After calling security twice it did not stop. *Woken up extremely early to cleaning ladies talking non-stop (which sounded like they were laying in bed with me due to the extremely thin walls). *The bathroom was very small with no counterspace to hold any of my items. PROS: *Great view of the city. *Several restaurants in and around hotel. It would be very hard to convince me to stay at this hotel again. We paid $200 for one night, and got absolutely no sleep,

Walked to the Convention Center and MOCA Museum. Was close to everything.

Although the double bed is small for 2 person to sleep on, the room is quite clean and nice. Hot shower is good, and they offer a coffee machine. I love the free wifi.

Very Nice hotel, Friendly Staff, Obly Drawback Parking is charged extra. Other than that no complaints what so ever.
