Bahia Resort Hotel

I loved all the amenities offered at this hotel. From the blind seal pups that were rescued and cared for at the resort, to the cute romantic moonlight cruise off the bay at night. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The location is perfect, so close to Sea World and the boardwalk/beach. There is so much more to see...you need to check it out for yourself! I'd go back in a heartbeat <3

We showed up, looked at the room, and left. the place was totally run down. Bay view was a limited view of the water through a hedge and across a public parking lot. At least they refunded our money so we could stay somewhere else- except for one night. Don't waste your money on this place

The Bahia is surprisingly clean for being a beach hotel. I would recommend this for families with kids and not just a weekend for lovers or buddies. The bay is waveless and there are miles of beaches, private and public that can be accessed from your hotel room door. There were four weddings going on the weekend we were there and it was booked solid. The staff is friendly, helpful and everywhere. We had a girls weekend and just hung out on the beach under cabana loungers and sipped cocktails. It was wonderful. We had a Bay View Studio - a bit overpriced in my opinion - and it slept up to six, was roomy and had a kitchenette. Coffee pot is truly tiny but luckily a Starbucks up the street. The Bahia Cafe restaurant serves above average food and the Tangier Bar serves decent drinks. (right off the sand). Room service was prompt. The charm of this place is the fact that it has been here since 1953 and you feel like you are at a resort that could be located anywhere. it's very comfortable and gracious for an old lady. Our room was very updated and so can't comment on comments others have made about their outdated rooms. We were located in one of the two multi story wings and the view of Mission Bay was lovely. I plan to come back with hubby and try one of the beach front ground floor bungalows. Only complaint I have is that the hot water never gets hot enough for my taste. Also: expect noise in the summer time going on until the beach closes at 10pm and remember this is a party city for the young and old alike. A little noise doesn't bother me, but if you want peace and quiet - go somewhere else. You can't beat this San Diego location and you can watch the fireworks from Sea World right off your balcony.! I am giving this hotel a 3.9 rating.

great big private bungalo. Romantic and lots to do. Biking, sailing, ocean or bay swimming. close to sea world, great cafe and the people are wonderful! Stunning 50's hotel kept up very well! Very clean and bed very comfortable, we love the Bahia and expect to come back! Plus free bay cruize provided by the hotel!

We picked this hotel due to its location within 5 minutes of Mission Beach and Sea World. It was PERFECT for a family with two toddlers as the bay was peaceful and safe, inclusive of a playground and heated pool. We also made two 'trips' to Mission Beach, one via car and the other walking (after we found out we were 5 minutes away on foot, we ditched the car). Great little places to eat surround the beach, with our favorite being Luigi's pizza shop. Once the kids were tired, we returned to the hotel, took a nap and went to the heated pool for some time. We finished each night by watching our ideal view of the Sea World fireworks from our balcony (DEFINITELY spend the extra cash for the bay view). We were also able to spend two half days at Sea World (too much to take in in one day for adults - impossible for toddlers) and travel back to the hotel at our leisure. We were so pleased by the accomodations that we requested another night, but they were booked solid. Nothing over the top at this place, which is what we wanted, but fit our family to perfection. We will definitely return.

I think this is old hotel and not maintained. Shower is for less than 5 feet tall persons. Picture and realty is quiite different.

I have to say for all the "cheap" travelling I have done, this hotel takes the cake for value and service. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautifully maintained and ornate with lots of exotic plants. The seal rehabilitation area gave it a humane feeling (the seals were rescued because they are blind). It has immediate access to a quiet beach, and a nice size pool a hot tub. It is located in Mission Bay, so it is not too far from anything and yet not in crazy busy or loud area; only 10 minutes from the airport. The private and intimate setting made out stay very relaxing. The internet and parking are free (other hotels I looked at would have charged upwards of $50 per day for both!) There is a very reasonably priced restaurant on-site that had excellent food and drinks. We ate there 4 times and were pleased each time. I was travelling with my boyfriend and we found it quite a romantic get-away but I saw lots of families here also. To top things off they provide complimentary tickets for guests for the steamboat cruise, which is family oriented until 9:30 and then for adults only until about midnight. The only problem I had was the fact that their "convention" center is on the top floor so on Friday and Saturday we could hear music until about 10pm. But it was not nearly as bad as places I have stayed at that one could hear the couple next door! I would honestly say that I am VERY pleased with the value I got and the service I received. In my opinion it was a 4 star hotel at a 2 star price; I know this is hard to believe, but I was REALLY impressed and given all the travelling I have done over the years would say this is one of my favorite spots! THE HOTEL IS BEAUTIFUL THE LOCATION IS PERFECT RIGHT BY THE FREEWAY ROOMS ARE HUGE. STAFF WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND SO VERY HELPFUL

The first night we were there, we were in garden suite. The gardens were very nice but the room smelled musty, no fan in the bathroom and the heater acted funky. The rest of the evenings we were moved to another room which was nice. I was a little disappointed by the hotels one computer to use. People were lined up waiting to use it. Also, the pool are, arcade room and fitness area are in need of updating. The pictures that you see online are misleading. There is also a walk to the ocean and no views of the ocean from the hotel. Not quite what I expected. No shuttle service, no continental breakfast and at one time when I asked for more towels the lady called back and asked if I was sure I wanted the extra towels...?
