Castle Inn

Stayed at the Castle Inn based on traveler recommendations - they are very accurate. Room is dated but very clean, bathroom is spotless. Huge plus in SF is the free parking. Even though located on a busy street there is very little traffic noise and didn't notice noise from neighbors. A small continental breakfast is offered - coffee, tea, muffins, bagels, instant oatmeal and fruit. Right around the corner on Polk St are a number of reasonably priced restaurants. My trip lasted an extra night and they were very accommodating about letting me stay. Will have to make a number of trips over the next couple of months and would definitely stay here again. Nothing fancy, but clean, good location, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, free parking, clean!

Parking entry and exit is very tight! If you have a large vehicle, good luck!

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, because of it's location, free parking and breakfast, and the price. I must admit we were lucky and had a room on the front of the hotel, so we had two windows (never had to turn on the air conditioning). The size of the room was perfect for two of us. The location is great as well (great neighborhood- felt safe). It's about a 10 minute walk down to Ghirardelli Square, and about 5 blocks way from Lombard St. And there are tons of great restaurants right by the hotel. The manager was really nice. We didn't know breakfast was from 7:30-9am, so we went down at 9:30 on first morning. The manager was nice enough to make us a tray with some apples, yogurt, muffins, and granola bars. However, that's about all there was for breakfast every morning... Also the parking was not the best. There were only about 20 spots for all the guest to park in, and it was quite hard to get out of some of them (even with a compact car).

Helpful front desk staff. Free parking which is a must in this city. Close to bus stops, shops and dining. Rooms included fridge,microwave and hairdryer. Teenager disappointed in TV size, our laptop screen was larger. Very clean rooms, nice size. Only complaint would be the beds were very uncomfortable.

the help was friendly and helpful all around they were great . the hotel was centrally located to almost everything around . the only problem was that after leaving we noticed some bug bites that we dont know where they came from.

this was a very good hotel in a great location for us for the price!! we rented a car as we planned on traveling the surrounding area of san fran during our stay so finding this hotel with FREE parking was a sell for us! parking is more for smaller vehicles so keep that in mind. the hotel is in good condition but nothing fancy; if you're looking for something casual where you can rest and have another adventure the next day, this is a good place. breakfast there is really nothing but there is a small diner across the street that my husband loved (Peter D's) - try it. walking distance to a lot from this hotel.

Great location and appreciated the parking. A little dated from chain hotels but in comparison price was right. I you spend a lot of time in your room it's not for you. We could easily walk to Wharf, grocery, and coffee shop.

Front desk manager was very helpful, room was clean, and free breakfast.

Loved the location; easy to get to anywhere with exception of Union Square. Room was a bit musky, but very comfortable.
