great for first time visitors
Excelent position you can walk to everything, after you learn where they are, of course.good friendly staff, they can keep your luggage after you check out, if you needed.Nice view, but a little noisy,other than that i like it very much!

Long walk from hotel
The tours itself there nice but, only the city tour and the bay cruise i liked, the Muir woods and Soasolito is boring.Next time i would have the Carmel tour. Napa valley is nice, but no more free wine testing, kind an expensive 10$ a half a glass. San francisco has a lots of art galleries , museums, Opera house if you have time to see something.

Good Hotel for price
This is a nice Holiday Inn at a good location. Room was clean and staff helpful. Transportation options were very good. Cable car turnaround and bus lines right next to hotel. Taxis were abundant. You could get to anywhere in town very easily.

Great stay, friendly staff
Our stay at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway was a very positive experience. The room was clean and comfortable. It included two suitcase stands which is a plus for me. The staff was friendly and very helpful -- especially the concierge who spent considerable time marking a map with the locations of the cable cars and providing sightseeing ideas and information. The location was very convenient - within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf. I would definitely stay again.

Super Location
The Holiday Inn was in a terrific location. Right outside the front entrance was the California Street cable car. With the one day pass, we were able to grab the cable car at will and tour everything from the Port Authority, Open Market, the Embarcadero, Pier 39, Fisherman's Grotto, Hyde Park, Ghirardelli Square, Union Square, and more. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and quiet. Best of all, the women that work in the guest shop were outstanding at recommending activities, routes to take, and restaurants to dine in.

Great Location
I was very satisfied with the location of this hotel. It is perfect if you do not want to drive. I did not need a car. Less that one block from the Trolley, on a major bus line, and both connect to the Street Car. They all take you to all the areas to be, Union, Fisherman's Wharf, Castro, etc. Walking distance from lots of good restaurants. Loved the Modern Thai Restaurant and the S.N.O.B Wine Bar on Polk. Two Starbucks within blocks. The conciege is excellent.

Excelent, in all aspects
The hotel was excellent and like us the idea about how to save the water. The room was so clean, the bed and pillos were contfortable and the stuff were to polite but I sugest to hire biliangual people, because I found alot of people thath speak spanish in differents places and don't know how to ask for the thigs they want. I really recomend to stay in this hotel and I will retun soon. . . .

Convenient location & helpful staff
The Holiday Inn Golden Gateway was great! We were able to check in early, get our Muni pass, help from the concierge with map & directions and off to explore the city. Cable car was very close by & transportation was easy to maneuver. Our room was on 14th floor with view of city. Beds were very comfortable, everything was clean and service fantastic. We stored our luggage at check out since we had a flight. Concierge arranged shuttle to airport for us. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful in meeting our needs. It was our first visit to San Francisco and we were very pleased with this hotel. Would definitely recommend it!
