Tropical Winds Oceanfront Hotel

the tropical winds was quite satisfactory and pleasant. the staff was friendly and efficient. the room was well done and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. the location was great for seeing all the sites in daytona.

This was a good place to stay for a beach vacation - the room was clean and the entire staff very friendly. The pool was smaller than I am accustomed to a a beach hotel, butr the pool deck itself was very large with plenty of charis and tables. I especially was impressed with the free wi-fi. We rented an efficiency and it had all the kitchen utensils and items needed for a short stay. I was a bit disappointed that ll the king rooms were on the side, some with obstructed views. I would recommend this hotel as a good value and a comfortable place to stay.

This was a terrific location - directly on the beach and close to tourist attractions such as the pier. The room size was large and met our needs nicley. The staff were friendly and the cafe was delicious and very reasonably priced. HOWEVER - it was the filthiest room I have ever stayed in. I have traveled to many places, including Europe and the Caribbean - I've stayed in 5 star, 2 star, pensions, student hostels, etc... and I have never seen a room as unclean as this one. My daughter and I bought cleaning supplies and wiped down as much as we could, but the bathroom was just not do-able. We are not neat freaks, I assure you, and I have never written a review like this before, but I just felt like I needed to say something. I hope the hotel management will make changes in how they supervise their cleaning staff. Again, the location is great, the cafe is great, the staff were friendly, and noise was not a problem. BUT THE ROOM/BATHROOM WERE FILTHY.

The hotel is right on the beach, so the money was well spent. Our stay would have been more expensive had we stayed at a national chain. We did not use the pools or the cafe, we just went for the relaxation and the beach and we did just that. The hotel has been updated and was clean. We had a balcony overlooking the beach and the location is close to many activities.

The Tropical Winds is in a nice location. We had an oceanside room(balcony) with kitchenette stocked with dishes/pans. Many families, lots of kids in the pool. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for peace and quiet. The keys to the room did not work, so I had to go to the lobby twice and then the maintenance man changed the doorlock device. Staff were friendly. We asked for nonsmoking but got a smoking room, there were 2 ashtrays and burn marks on the inside of the bedspreads and tub. Overall a good value for the money.

right by the boardwalk and close to EVERYTHING! beach is amazing! rent a surfboard and have a blast!

The water pressure was very poor in the bathroom sink, but was fine in the shower and kitchenette sink. The air conditioner did not work 100%. The door out to the balcony was VERY difficult to open, so I was not able to spend as much time as I would have liked to enjoy the oceanfront view that I paid the upgrade fee for. The bed was almost like sleeping on the floor because it was so firm. The room was clean, with the exception of a large brown spot that was on the wall that could have been dirt or simply where something rubbed up against the wall and marked it. Either way, a simple cleaning or touch-up paint would have taken care of it. Overall, I was very disappointed with the value of the room for the price that I paid.

The staff was very nice. I room was a little small, bathroom was very small. We did enjoy our time we were there.

The front desk, is the best, extremely patient and accomodating and tried her best to make everyone comfortable. The rooms were great, the little kitchen really helps. It has a full size fridge, smaller microwave and smaller stove top and oven. Not much counter space, but you can easily make do. The hotel is only 8 floors, so you don't have to wait forever for the elevator like in some taller places. The pool and beach were great. We did not try the hotel cafe/restuarant, so can't tell you much about that. They seemed to have poolside specials on hotdogs/hamburgers most days we were there. Parking was never a problem and there are grocery stores within 1 mile. We lucked out and saw the shuttle launch also while we were there. Be sure to eat at Shells further down Atlantic Blvd. It is an excellent restuarant. Food is great- This hotel is great for a relaxing stay. It is not a resort hotel and won't have extravagant amenities..but if you want a comfortable, affordable stay, I highly recommend this hotel.

The Tropical Winds hotel was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen came very handy with our 3 day stay. The service was great and the dining was wonderful and priced just right. Good location.
