Avalon Hotel

Honestly, the only great aspect of this hotel is the location to the beach. I feel the hotel staff at the reception desk and the restaurant manager was very condescending and unable to accomodate my parties needs while staying there. Several simple requests were unmet and overlooked with no solution or accomodation what so ever. I stayed in the Days Inn on 43 and Collins from May 25 to May 31 where I had amazing service and a spacious room with a street view which was nice on May 31st we switched to the Avalon where I entered a first floor compact closet for a room. The view was a gated window and a side alley with windows that had cardboard boxes from blinds. Overall, my stay was horrible and I would not stay there ever again.

Windows to room faced allyway, could not sleep beyond 6am due to noise from delivery trucks and garbage truck making collections. Requested a different room, but none were available.

Location was perfect, right in the South Beach on Ocean Drive, 2 min walk to the ocean. However, building is very very old, not well kept, rooms are tiney and very very small. Lots of rooms in the hall and that feels like you are in the dorm vs. hotel. Would not stay there again. I'd rather walk to the beach a little further next time.

The Avalon: The rooms were small and tight. My biggest/only problem with this hotel was the price. It is too costly for what they offer. For my money, I would stay on Collins Ave. - for comporable or better rooms & considerably cheaper!! (and more fun too, if thats what your in Miami for!)

upon my arrival i had to wait a good while at the front desk since there was only one desk receptionist. The room seemed stuffy and dated but for the price it would do. My room wasn't cleaned the first day since i was unaware you had to inform the front desk you wanted to room cleaned... weird. It was although in a great location so i spent very little time in the room.

Check in was horrible i was told i didnt have a resveration the after 45 min i was told thell squeez me in lol.The room was tiny and plain but clean. It also had a weird damp smell so i brought along a scented candle that solved that problem. Hotel was good location right across from the beach. very nice to sit outside at night.

The rooms are pretty small, but it's all about location, location, location!!!! Everything is so close and the beach is right across the street. Also you are walking distance from all the shopping area.

It was nice. Nothing fancy. Staff was very nice. Room was cleaned daily and bed was comfortable. Great location right across from the beach and close to many restaurants/bars. Parking is not fun in South Beach, if you ante up for Valet here (25-30 a day) you always have a spot. My wife and I enjoyed it!

The hotel was just okay, definitely not 4 stars. I would say it is more of a 3 star hotel. We thought we needed to stay on Ocean Ave. to be near the beach and near all of the South Beach nightlife, but that was a bad assumption. Next time I go I will NOT stay in a hotel on Ocean Blvd. They are not worth the price.

Great location right in the middle of South Beach Art Deco district. Just step out the door and you're in the middle of the action. That's a problem, also, as the action goes on until 3 in the morning or longer and the noise from the street scene can be heard in the rooms near the front of the hotel. The hotel interior is dated. SMALL rooms, few amenities. Clean, though. The staff is trying to be helpful. The Continental Breakfast (no hot food)included in our room charge was above average. The beach is just a short walk across the street and through Lummus Park. Great beach! Overall, we're glad we experienced the South Beach "scene", but probably wouldn't do it again. I just don't think we're South Beach type of people. The crowds, the noise, the jostling, etc. became bothersome after a couple of hours.
