Coconut Waikiki Hotel, a Joie de Vivre Hotel

Overall great stay if you're looking to save some money and don't mind a little walk to the beach. We were a little further away from Waikiki Beach than most hotels, but the walk was pleasant and we enjoyed it. We were also really close to the running path along the channel so that was nice. Bathroom wasn't clean when we got there as it turned out so that was annoying, but everyone makes mistakes I guess. They rented out towels for free if you needed them, pool wasn't very appealing. The concierge was awesome. The continental breakfast was pretty sparse, but we woke up early, ate, went for a long run, and when we got back we had second breakfast so that was nice. Overall good price for what you get...it was perfect for us because we didn't really want to spend much time in Honolulu - too busy, not enough nature, we don't like to shop, not interested in the nightlife, etc. We spent the rest of our time in KAUAI!!!!

Hotel decor has been freshened, clean rooms, friendly staff. Location is off the beach next to the canal so it gets you out of the busy beach area to rest. Suites are larger and better suited to families than what was available closer to beach. We booked a suite for us and our two young children which included a king bed and queen sofa sleeper. There were two oversized bathrooms (one full, one half) making getting ready easier in the mornings. Breakfast was was a disappointment. Some sliced fruit, boiled eggs, breads, instant oatmeal, pastries (same as you would get from 7-11), coffee. No cereals or hot foods. Get there early as they tend to run out well before it ends at 9:30. Some simple things can have a dramatic impact such as their 2-slice toaster that literally took 4-5 minutes (seriously, and mentioning to front desk that their toaster is wholly inadequate was met with disinterest) We could not open either of our two balcony doors while they were performing maintenance. A window lever broke and it was repaired very quickly. Air conditioners have taken a beating and tend to grind and rattle (I have to wedge in pieces of paper here and there to make it quieter). The one near the bed was unusable to sleep near. Road noise was moderate during night since the hotel is adjacent to a main road with a traffic light so keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper. Pool was small but decent, next to road. Towels can be signed out when heading to the beach. Concierge was convenient.

Good place to stay. Far away from Waikiki beach but you do not need city beach when there are a lot of beautiful beaches on the island

Room airconditioner was so loud I could not keep it running while in the room and did not cool down very much. Otherwise room was ok and service was good

Fühlte mich von der ersten Minute, dies war um Mitternacht, wohl in diesem Hotel. Das Office- Personal hat mich freundlich-herzlich empfangen. Einchecken verlief unkompliziert. Verlängerungen für Nächte verliefen unkompliziert. Umgang zwischen Personal und Kunden sehr familiär und hilfsbereit. Fühlte mich jederzeit rundum wohl! Grosses Plus im Coconut Waikiki, für den fairen Preis gibt es Internet und WIFI gratis, was von anderen teuren Hotels in der Nachbarschaft nicht gesagt werden kann.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. The bed was comfortable.

If you just want a room to stay at before heading out to the beach or somewhere else, this is the place to be at. Room are neat and clean, the bathroom is in very good condition. The staff was friendly and the free breakfast in the morning was ok. I would return back to this hotel when I go to Hawaii.

What a wonderful hotel! The room was clean and had a small kitchen including a microwave, refrigerator and plates/utensils. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a beautiful view of the city outside our window. The hotel property itself is beautiful and surrounds several breathtaking plants/trees. It's also conveniently located near the beach and lots of shopping centers/restaurants. The free breakfast every morning was delicious but beware of eating outside - pigeons want you to share your food with them and will jump on your table! The friendly & accommodating staff was also a huge plus. I would highly recommend this hotel!

My husband and I stayed at Coconut Waikiki for 7 nights. In my opinion it was a good value, because it was still in Waikiki, walking distance from the beach (although, it was basically the farthest you could get from the beach in Waikiki) but significantly cheaper than other hotels in the neighborhood. Our room was kept pretty clean, although it was quite small, but big enough. We spent most of our time outside anyways. I would recommend Coconut Waikiki to anyone looking to stay in Waikiki on a budget.
