We stayed at 74 State the weekend of April 5th. The valet immediately greeted us. Check in took only a few minutes. The room was amazingly clean and comfortable. Although there were other guest at the hotel they spaced us out so we could be as loud or quiet as we wanted without disturbing anyone else. The staff was so friendly and helpful with EVERYTHING. They are absolutely my go to hotel in Albany.

GREAT for Devils games!
The only reason, and I mean ONLY reason, this place got 4 instead of 5 stars, is because there are no amenities in the room itself. That's it. Everything else about this place is great. Valet guys are cool, desk clerks were awesome, room was clean, quiet and comfy, and it's a 2 minute walk down the street from the TU. For a hundred a night, this is REALLY hard to beat. Do NOT hesitate to stay here if you're in town for a Devils game, or, if you're like me, you go to the Devils game and then you want to go out in Downtown Albany and get a good buzz on without worrying about having to drive home through Bethlehem haha. GREAT place!

Meeting with friends for dinner.
Check-in was understantable delayed; the Boston Celtics needed to check out first. Food in the restaurant was pretty ordinary.

74 State-- Eh, nothing great.
Hotel is fairly small, Valet does not work 24 hours so if you arrive late you'll have to deal with street parking on your own. Elevator seems like its on its last legs as it rattled, creaked and banged its way upstairs. Room was oddly shaped and the bed was small. TV's are also very small. All things considered, there are better options in that area.

Great Hotel, Great Location!!!
I found the staff to be friendly and very helpful, great location very near the Capital and Empire Plaza. Ate lunch at the bar on the second floor and food was excellent. Drawback for some may be no tub. Huge walk in shower was great for me. Will definitely stay there again.

Comfortable; worth it.
Hotel is new, comfortable- clean, somewhat sparse/spacious rooms. The staff is relatively young, polite and pleasant. Food is relatively anodyne.
