About this property
Unique Tiny House + Sky "Perch" and Roof Deck
Newly constructed (Aug '17) ~ we welcome you to a unique tiny house in the sky! It is surrounded by a huge shared outdoor deck. Tons of light, high ceilings, a Murphy bed, full bathroom, "tiny house" kitchen, and bonus beds in a loft space. Newly added penthouse sky deck with great view (pictures don't do justice) through not totally adjacent internal shared staircase. Walkable, green, central area.
COVID: unit shares NO air with anyone else.
Quiet hours requested after 10p.
We're near Lake Merritt, by Warwick Ave & Euclid St.
Room 1: "The tiny house" features a Queen murphy bed, plus full bath and micro-kitchen on the ground floor. Up in the only-for-crawling loft are another queen bed and twin bed, visually separated from downstairs. The tiny sleeps 5.
Room 2: Up higher is "Perch" with views in all directions. While on your way to the tiny, fork off up the stairs to an attic-level dormer office with queen bed (on a large shelf), huge views, a utility toilet/sink and a roof deck with 360 views. Perch also has a mini split for efficient heat and air conditioning. This is up a stair ladder - please go up and down like a ladder, not stairs (facing the ladder).
It's within a 3-unit co-housing community~ we each have our own private homes but often share meals, the garden and good company. Everyone you might see around is friendly.
PARKING- we *usually* have a paid spot available. it's $20/day or $100/week if booked in advance, plus an extra $25 if booked last minute. There's free parking on the street which is easily available most days (not 2nd and 4th monday and tuesdays- street cleaning), a little hard on weekends, and often difficult by evenings. Most people prefer walking/BART or Lyft/Uber.
You'll have the Tiny House and Perch to yourself. There's also a large shared deck outside the tiny house, and the small but gorgeous rooftop deck.
We are available as needed but otherwise you may not see us, or we'll waive as you come and go.
Quiet yet walkable! Too many restaurants to count, Whole Foods and Trader Joes, the massive Saturday farmer's market. You're in the middle of Oakland's street life, and near downtown and BART, but on a quiet street.
All within a few blocks:
- Lake Merrit - a beautiful place for biking, running, or walking.
- Park with a playground
- Dozens of restaurants
- Yoga
- Massage
- Coffee etc.
Very central. BART/subway is roughly 15-20 minutes walk, and a 24-hour buses to SF is 3 blocks over. 10 minutes walk to the free Broadway shuttle, that goes right to the ferry terminal to SF.
The new bikeshare system (GoBike) is about 5 minutes away, Lime and Bird are the scooter companies in the area.
Please note the pictured funky ladder is the only way into the tiny house, a different stair ladder goes to perch. Most guests like or even enjoy it, but it's not for those with mobility issues.
To the tiny, best to pass your luggage through while standing next to the ladder, then go up. For perch, heavy luggage can be tricky but with two people it's also doable.
We are often here and can help with luggage so please message or call us when on your way if you'd like that.
We live in the main house and do use the shared outside deck. Your tiny house (a bedroom, bathroom, loft, and tiny kitchen) and perch are completely private however.
Kind neighbors downstairs. We ask you plan to be at soft voices level between 11p and 8a. Silent hours in the outside deck are 10p to 10a. We love hosting, but hate disturbing great neighbors.
Make sure you saw the fun/funky stairs (the ones up and through the large window onto the deck)! There's also stairs within the tiny, up to the loft, and a steep stair ladder up to perch, and from perch to the roof deck.
Guests beyond number reserved are only allowed on property by day, or by written permission within the app.
Same Day Bookings
Please let us know when you need the room and ask you be understanding with check-in times for same day bookings. We can always accommodate bags and offer a bathroom but having full access to a clean room might come later.
Cancellations- Make sure you're aware of airbnb policy. We do understand most people can cancel within 24 hours for free.
