Disappointing stay

Great location and nice staff but hotel is very tired. Room has not been hovered, there were cobwebs hanging from all the light shades and the bathroom has discolored grouting and hair on the floor. Also found the seats in the dining room to be covered in food so was very unimpressed with the general cleanliness. I would say that for the cost of the room for the two nights, it represents very poor value for money.

This property does not feel like a four-star hotel. It needs a complete renovation. There is no mini fridge in the rooms. The fixtures are old and need a deep cleaning. The gym is nice, but because it is next to the pool, all of the equipment is rusted. The staff was extremely helpful and nice, but the hotel needs a refresh.

The bathroom dispensers had lots of built up soap on them and hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Breakfast was chaos between the noise of the children running around and the staff crashing the trays at the buffet changing them over. The room was very hot so we had the windows open only to be woken around 2am when a large group of 18yo left. Bar staff were adequate but not overly friendly. Everything was no better than average which is not a 4* expectation

Location and Pool!

We're very happy with this hotel for our family trip to Kilkenny. We didn't rent a car and were traveling by train/bus and this hotel is perfectly placed in the city to walk to all main attractions. The pool was great with our young kids. The oldest (5Y) really liked the little led they added to our room. I recommend!

There is air conditioning only on the lobby floor, not in the rooms. We only had a small desk fan to plug in for air. The room was showing some wear also. The staff at the front desk were great, but our waiter in the bar was not.

Very helpful

This hotel was pretty much booked up when we got there to check in. The room they gave us was not what I had reserved and when we went back down to the front desk they very happily fixed the issue by up grading us to a bigger better room. It was quiet and clean. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel nicely located to make the city very walkable.

This is an old hotel so the lack of A/C was understandable but uncomfortable in 30 degree heat. Cracked floor/tiles in the bathroom. Doing the final check before leaving, I open a drawer I hadn’t used, which fell out narrowly missing my foot. Breakfast? Stopped serving at 10am which ensures a backup. I have never had to wait so long to be seated. Nominally self service but you wait to be issued with a mug, then queue whilst chap individually, item after item ,solemnly places. 2 rashers of bacon on your plate, one egg, etc. presumably to stop folk sneaking an extra sausage. This parsimonious approach explains why the fried eggs were rubbery and had obviously been standing for some time. No doubt the reply will be that I could have asked for more than one egg, but I wasn’t asked if I wanted two. As the process was so slow, the queue continued to build out in the lobby. Orange juice? It was labelled as such but it was more like orange squash! The location is great, the staff were great but management need to sort out the breakfast offering and refurbish the fabric of what could be a fabulous hotel.
