Noisy room

The hotel was reasonable and the staff friendly but our room faced onto a very busy and extremely noisy street. When we asked to be moved to a more quiet room we were actually moved to a lower floor room which was even noisier! When we questioned this we were simply advised that the type of room we had booked was only available on that side of the building. Very disappointing particularly as we were jet lagged having travelled from the UK.

The stove was horrible, lots of grease and debris. The fridge had a built up of ice in the freezer, pots were a downright hazard the handle literally turn in your hands. The washer never worked, the hot tub is just a tub the jets doesn’t work. The entire suite smells like cigarettes smoke, I had to use deodorizer and candles. The lights over the mattresses doesn’t work. The cleaners doesn’t speak a word of English. You literally have to go to the front desk for cream sugar and dish washer powder.

they upgraded me to penthouse which i was excited about, but it’s just a 2 story apartment, extremely loud noises and can hear the play in the pool till about 930 pm, few issues but worst was smell from the drains, i thought it would get better after night 1 but nope the receptionist lovely and then offered a bottle of wine but is only a 10$ bottle so gave it away i won’t be going back also they actually need to give all the lovely cleaners a trolley instead of bags being left at lift or near the apart doors

The hotel was in a convenient location and was reasonably priced. I liked that it had a small kitchen and washer and dryer for our 5 day stay in Sydney. The room that we had though was very dated and worn down. The bathroom tile was broken and stained and the shower was unable to be properly cleaned due to age. The carpet in the room was very old, worn out and fraying. The pillows were very thin and beds were very hard. The info said room renovated in 2021 but this did not seem accurate. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.

YEHS Sussex st. NOT recommended if one has a disability. Attempted twice to contact management during this stay, about changing a future booking, with 4 weeks notice, (12 hours outside their policy)to their partner hotel YEHS QVB, as it is more accessible, no reply!!! Advertised as 5 mins from Town Hall, NO mention Druit st is very steep, not suitable for the disabled. I wouldn't have booked here if I knew this. Extremely disappointing in YEHS /Hotels in supposedly a time of equality & anti-discrimination.
