We begin by driving along Madeira’s sunny southwest coast, the warmest region on the island. Our first highlight is Calheta Beach, one of Madeira’s rare golden‑sand beaches — perfect for photos and sweeping ocean views.

As we continue, we cross the island’s main banana‑producing area, where terraces of tropical fruits cover the hillsides. In Madalena do Mar (around 20 minutes), you’ll walk the scenic Rota da Banana and explore a working plantation while enjoying coastal and mountain views.

Next, we visit Ponta do Sol (around 30 minutes), a charming seaside town framed by banana terraces. Wander its narrow streets, admire colourful buildings, and relax at a local café while taking in the sunshine and ocean scenery.
