The Forbidden Purple City belongs to a complex of the ancient capital of Hue, which is the centre of daily life of the Kings, their Queens, Minor Wives and Cocubines of the Nguyen’s Emperors. The Forbidden City is located behind the Thai Hoa palace, was first built by King Gia Long (1804). In the third year of Minh Mang’s reign (1822), the king changed the name into Forbidden Purple City.
