What you can expect

On this private guided tour, you will first enjoy an official guided walking tour of Canterbury, walking through over 2,000 years of history in the beautiful city on an entertaining 90-minute tour. As your expert guide leads you through the medieval lanes, you’ll discover the city’s incredible and very often bloody past!

Following the city tour, you will join your own private guide within the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral, where you will uncover 1400 years of history through its soaring architecture, glorious glass and stunning stonework. You'll discover the people who made it what it is today as you make your way around the awe-inspiring Perpendicular Gothic Nave, the atmospheric Crypt and the dazzling Trinity Chapel. You will also see the spot where Thomas Becket was murdered in 1170, leading Canterbury to become a famous destination for pilgrimage as told in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

Please note, if you would like a short break between the tours, please contact us after booking, or let us know when we confirm your booking via the message centre.

This is a private tour of the City and Cathedral with a dedicated guide just for you. If you would prefer to join a group tour at a reduced rate, please look at our Daily Walking Tours at 11am (and 2pm April-Oct). Daily tours include the city lanes and Cathedral grounds, not the inside of the Cathedral.
