In the heart of the Charente countryside, Domaines Francis Abecassis (ABK6) welcomes you for an immersive experience in a family-owned and independent house, where cognac is born: in the vines, then over time. This tour is designed to be friendly and accessible, while introducing you to the essential steps of exceptional craftsmanship.
The tour begins with an introduction to the terroir and the vine's cycle. You will learn how the raw material is developed over the seasons, before moving on to the first major stages of production: from the grape harvest to wine making, then to distillation, the true heart of the cognac trade. The team passionately shares the techniques, benchmarks, and principles that give the house's cognacs and pineaux their identity.
The tour continues on to the ageing cellars. In a hushed atmosphere, you will learn about the role of wood, the evolution of aromas, and the importance of patience: here, the barrels rest, and time gradually shapes balance and complexity. You will learn how ageing and blending contribute to the final signature of a cognac.
The tour ends in the shop with a guided tasting of 3 cognacs, to explore the art of ageing and blending. We will guide you step by step to observe the colour, identify the aromas, and appreciate the length in the mouth—whether you are a curious amateur or a connoisseur. The cognac tasting is for adults only, and alcohol-free alternatives are available for those who do not wish to consume alcohol. After the tour, take the opportunity to discover all the vintages and receive personalised advice.
