Fishing in Pedasí is incredible, as this area of Panama is known as the “tuna coast.” Species such as corvina, mackerel, roosterfish, cubera snapper, amberjack, grouper, many types of snapper, and jacks can be caught. It's even possible to find schools of tarpon. Some species are easier to catch in specific months, such as yellowfin tuna and cubera snapper from March to June. From July to October you can find dorado, sailfish, marlin, and wahoo, which come closer to shore. Yellowfin tuna can also be found during these months.
This full-day excursion offers the best of fishing in Panama. Participants will be taken out in a panga, a fishing boat with an outboard motor, common in Central America. This boat has a roof for sun protection. Your captain will take you to the best fishing spots.
You can combine your fishing excursion with a visit to Isla Iguana, a beautiful nature reserve located off the coast of Pedasí. Iguana Island is more reminiscent of the Caribbean than the Panamanian Pacific. This island boasts white sand and crystal-clear waters, ideal for snorkelling. The island has over 40 hectares of coral reef teeming with a wide variety of fish and colourful turtles. Visitors between June and October may spot humpback whales.
