07:00 – Depart from your hotel in Hangzhou.
You will board a comfortable vehicle and head to Shaoxing – an ancient city floating on water.
First stop: the sacred site of Chinese calligraphy.
Surrounded by bamboo groves and scenic beauty, this is where you can experience the spirit of ancient Chinese literati gatherings. This place is also home to the “World’s Best Running‑Script Calligraphy.” As you walk through, you will come to understand why it holds such a revered place in Chinese culture.
Next, you will visit an old street in the Ming and Qing architectural style.
With its stone slabs, small bridges, and flowing water, this street is a quintessential example of Jiangnan water town charm. Every snapshot captures a scene full of everyday life. It is also a favourite local hangout. Here you can try Shaoxing’s famously stinky tofu – it smells pungent but tastes delicious. You may also sample Huangjiu (rice wine) ice cream, which offers a uniquely intriguing flavour. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss the local egg tart known as “Naiyou Xiaopan” – a delightful treat. After eating your fill and exploring the area, you will proceed to the Former Residence of Lu Xun.
Lu Xun’s Hometown – the childhood and school life of a literary giant.
Lu Xun is one of China’s greatest literary figures, with significant international influence. This is the place where he grew up and attended school. A visit here will give you deep insight into the life and stories of Lu Xun.
Afternoon: Gather at the designated meeting point and return by vehicle to Hangzhou.
You will leave not only with memories of Shaoxing’s beautiful scenery but also with a richer understanding of the stories behind this ancient city.
