POOR EXPERIENCE!

We have recently returned from our holiday @ Casa Hibiscus & with regret have to say this Villa falls well short of expectations & Vrbo ratings which we have been unable to resolve directly with the owner. You only need to read the review book in the Villa & the alarm bells start.You feel you have stepped back in time with limited maintenance over many years including a very musty smell, external doors that are secured by sticks, the worst grouted swimming pool tiled area ever, poor oppressive lighting, outdoor mats which are a disgrace, poor & dangerous lighting on outdoor stairs to a scruffy roof top terrace, sun weakened sunbeds & a broken oven not to mention poorly maintained mossy nets---unfortunately the list is endless.The Villa is in desperate need of a cash injection & significant TLC to meet modern day needs.In addition to all this we suffered constant building work next door resulting in a level of noise that meant us needing to go out during the day (the video's we have of this building work leave you in no doubt of what an awful holiday we had but the owner takes no responsibility).The final straw was on leaving the show tap stuck in the on position which for some reason the owner thinks was our fault when it was another example of poor maintenance.I best stop there as l could continue, enough to say I will never be returning & now have doubts about Vrbo who we have used positively in the past?

Great location. Walk to town with excellent restaurants and bars. House was clean and perfect for the 3 nights we were there, but home was a little tired and needed minor things to be fixed (ie: screen doors). Also, probably time time to replace mattresses.

Authentic Portugal stay.

The property is well situated, close to restaurants and the downtown. It is lush property with plenty of privacy. Beautiful view of the ocean from the roof top terrace. A great location to explore the east and west coastal towns. The home is well equipped with everything you need.

Casa Hisbiscus

We had a fantastic time! The house was great and was equipped with everything you could possibly need and very clean !! A very short walk to town and beautiful beaches, also amazing restaurants! The host was very accommodating and gave great information about the town. I would definitely recommend this place!

Perfect stay for family!

This villa was EXACTLY as described. The surrounding gardens made it an absolutely magical stay. The beds were comfy, the water was hot, the pool was cool, and the kitchen was perfect for our needs. Really enjoyed exploring and would definitely go back again.

Fabulous stay at Casa Hibiscus

Had a wonderful stay at Casa Hibiscus in Carvoeiro! Home is a short 10 minute walk to town and beaches. It is a bit hilly for folks with mobility issues, but Uber is readily available and is a cheap way to get home from downtown! We rented e-bikes from Nelson at Carvoeiro Bike Rentals in town and had a wonderful tour of the oceanfront. The Casa was exactly how the pictures display. A very quaint Portuguese home with all the amenities you need. The pool which is not heated was a lovely temperature and we were in it everyday. The gardens are beautiful around the home with many flowers and birds. The property manager met us on arrival and was very helpful during our stay. A lovely week was spent at Casa Hibiscus and we would highly recommend this home to others.

Traditional Portuguese Villa

The villa is set in a nice area just outside of Town, close enough to be able to walk there and the main beach/restaurants, but also far enough out that it’s quiet and relaxing. The pool, garden and different seating areas (including bbq) were the highlight of the villa, and we spent most of our time outside. The property is well set up for kids with games and cot and toilet seat etc, as well as a children’s decorated room. The interior is very traditional and was perfect for our taste, and everything was as advertised and described. Some areas could do with slight modernisation in the future, but everything worked well and we really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of seating and the pool/pool area were a great way to relax when not at the beach. Ross

Une maison bien située, confortable avec de magnifiques jardins!

Notre séjour de 20 jours à Casa Hibiscus en mars-avril 2024 nous a permis d’apprécier les commodités de la maison, la cuisine bien équipée, la jolie vaisselle et la verrerie de qualité. Le lave-vaisselle est minuscule, alors on fait souvent la vaisselle! La laveuse à linge est à l’extérieur, et, avec le soleil et le vent, le linge séchait bien sur les cordes de la terrasse sur le toit. Les pièces sont bien aménagées et confortables, mais on peut constater que la maison a du vécu. Les chambres sont isolées des aires de vie, ce qui donne beaucoup de tranquillité. À noter que la chambre du « milieu » est plus petite et plus sombre. Nous avons eu la malchance d’avoir du temps frais et pluvieux pendant notre première semaine, nous avons donc passé plus de temps à l’intérieur, pour constater que c’est un peu sombre. Heureusement qu’il y a du chauffage qui a aidé à chasser un peu l’humidité. L’aménagement extérieur est le point fort de la maison, les fleurs, les arbres, les étangs de grenouilles font rêver et les 4 terrasses sont toutes jolies et différentes. La maison est située sur une rue tranquille et on a accès à pied au petit marché du village, aux plages de Vale Centeanes et Carvoeiro, au Sentier des 7 vallées suspendues, à Algar Seco et au golf Vale Milho. La communication avec Alex avant et pendant notre séjour, ainsi qu’avec Claudio et Ilda pour l’accueil et le ménage a été excellente.

Amazing week!

We have just had a fantastic week staying at Casa Hibiscus! A beautiful, traditional villa with amazing gardens and pool area. Great communication with the manager during the booking process and a warm welcome during check in. Villa has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is only a short walk down the hill into Carvoeiro. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful traditional villa in perfect location

We absolutely loved our time in this spacious and perfectly located villa, just on the edge of Carvoeiro. Starting with the location: it’s just far enough out of town to be peaceful and quiet, but close enough that you can walk to all the best restaurants and bars (and the beach) within 10 minutes. Then the villa itself: completely secluded with a beautiful pool…perfect for the kids to splash about in (ours are 9 and 11). And the villa itself is really spacious, with 3 good sized bedrooms and nice big beds in each of them. All in all we had a brilliant holiday and would love to return to this villa one day if we can!

Holiday Paradise

The location of this spectacular traditional Portuguese home was absolutely perfect. My husband and I had the privilege to stay as guests at this peaceful and very clean and well maintained home. We where able to walk to the beach and to the city square very easily. Centrally located to be able to explore all around the Algarve region. There was someone to meet us at the time of arrival to show us around the property and also answer any questions. The cleaning was immaculate and thorough. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to make gourmet meals at home including a fabulous BBQ area. The landscaping and the different pond settings where so peaceful and tranquil. We spent some days just relaxing at the home and around the grounds, it was that inviting! We honestly couldn’t find anything to critique negatively it was just that perfect for us.

We’ll located, traditional garden villa

Our adult family spent a lovely week relaxing in Casa Hibiscus. There were several areas to retreat if you wanted some quiet time - my favourite was the seat by the frog pond. We were greeted by the lovely Claudio - also responded promptly to occasional queries. E.g. issue with one of toilets - flush buttons not working and water sometimes continued to run after flushing. (As the cleaning lady put it: “Buttons kaput!”). Unfortunately, no plumber was available the week we were there, but as we had 2 other reliable toilets, not an issue for us. The villa was well equipped; even made myself a smoothie with the Bosch blender for breakfast. Sharp knives, too! Pool and surrounding area - just right! And pool cleaned regularly. 2 beaches nearby; however, the beach by the Tivoli hotel (5 minutes walk) remains inaccessible - you can get there, but the 1.5m almost sheer drop from rocks to beach isn’t for everyone! The other beach (10 - 15 minutes walk) is very accessible, with a decent cafe alongside 👍 The town of Carvoeira is easily walkable, with many many restaurants to suit all tastes - although return the journey up hill seemed to take a lot longer! A few small supermarkets in town, too; the larger Intermarche is less than 10 min drive away. Excellent communication with hosts prior to arrival. We had a lovely relaxing holiday - thank you.

Beautifully Peaceful Algarve Garden Villa

This beautiful garden Villa more than met our expectations. This is an older home which we appreciated. We loved the Portugal charm with the cork ceilings, outdoor spaces, lovely gardens with ponds and serenading frogs and birds. Great location, close to beaches, cliffs and restaurants but far enough to be relaxing. Truly a home away from home.

Perfect family vacation

Our family spent amazing weeks at this wonderful property. Perfect location. Awesome pool. Beautiful, mature gardens with plenty of space to relax and find solitude. The close beach is practically private and is lovely. Carvoiero is a fantastic little village with a great little mercado, restaurants to suit every taste, small shops with all that you might need, and a wonderful public beach. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of home or town. Perfect! Highly recommend!

A week in Carvoeiro

Good location. Well equipped. Lovely garden. Loved the frogs! Enjoyed hammock. Used outdoor barbque. Kitchen well equipped, however oven has no temperature guage. Easy walk to town. Reasonable access to beaches, however beach below Tivoli hotel not accessible. Tranquil setting, however the neighbor's dogs barking most of the night is a BIG annoyance. Pool was not clean upon arrival, but subsequently cleaned. Good contact with owner/agent prior to arrival. Some issues to note: 1. Outdoor furniture is tired and the pool lounge cushions were saturated with water and not usable. Also, only a table and two plastic chairs on roof terrace. We were promised additional chairs for the roof terrace by property manager, but never heard back. 2. Not sure when last tenants were in the house, but upon our arrival the house was dark and damp. (Not sure the property manager had been in house recently). Found some clothing left in bedroom dresser. 3. Plumbing problems with toilets running-on after flushing and some toilets did not flush well. Informed property manager after we fixed one toilet. No follow-up from him to see if functioning properly. Solar hot water system requires up to a minute for water to get hot, which is not a big problem, however during our stay we did not have hot water for a couple of days. We informed the property manager in the morning, but did not hear back until the evening and were told the cleaning person would fix it the next day. She did arrive the next afternoon, while we were out, and when we returned we did have hot water. We think the property manager should have been more responsive. 4. Cleaning service options were offered by the property manager and we chose every other day, however during our week-long stay we had only 2 days of cleaning service. Overall, we enjoyed our time in Carvoeiro, but were a bit disappointed by Casa Hibiscus as noted above.

Great views and very relaxing

Great personalized check in. Was told the schedule of the cleaning and garden staff so there were no unexpected people. Property is within walking distance to town yet pretty quiet. The rooftop patio was a fabulous place for a nighttime glass of wine.

Perfect villa for family fun

Very beautiful, hidden away in a residential area. Allows you full privacy. Villa comes with quality and detailed furniture, dishware and household items. Fully equipped for a very comfortable family stay. So many wonderful areas to have dinner, relax and gather. Villa looks exactly as it appears in pictures if not better. Highly recommend.
