Cannot fault this hotel. Brilliant staff, friendly helpful, couldn't be more accommodating. Indoor pool super open until 9pm. I was here on my own in December for a pre Christmas holiday in sun and felt totally safe. Walkable along promenade to old town. Would be back again!

Good to share resources and restaurant options with sister hotels on the resort. However the good security systems made it difficult to get to them. Staff were friendly and helpful. The way that food allergies were managed were a little less than perfect although some staff seemed to understand the basics… we had a good break there.

The hotel staff were amazing and so easy to deal with! The rooms were very clean, but the exterior around the hotel and pool area could use a little more cleaning. Wasn't terrible, but wouldn't take much to clean up and spruce thing up.

I wasn’t going to write this review initially but so many things went wrong i felt the need to. #1 this is supposed to be a 4-5 star Hotel and they make you buy tokens (5$ per wash) and laundry detergent for your clothes. I didn’t mind buying so i went down to reception and after many failed attempts because of their machine i wasn’t able to pay with card. She then took the tokens back from me and asked me to go grab cash at a grocery store. You also have to pay for Steam room/ Sauna / Jacuzzi. I arrived early and waited till 4:45pm to check in then waited another 45 minutes to actually get into my room at 5:30pm. The tv is super old with no channels. The only thing that’s nice about this hotel is the actual building and location other than that all the hostels I’ve stayed at are better than this “nice” hotel. The workers are trying their best but i can see it’s a management/owner problem they seem greedy.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Muthu, and it’s somewhere we would come back to. However, it’s important to know what to expect. We would be coming back for the atmosphere, but essentially nothing else. Positives: - The pool was the biggest highlight, it was large enough that even when it was packed there was plenty of space. (Just make sure to grab a spot before 9am) It was also very clean. - Proximity to the beach was great, we were able to end our days with a beach walk, which had beautiful views. - Excellent air conditioning. - The location was great. New town was a quick walk, old town was a quick taxi as well as the Albufeira Marina. - Looked better than surrounding hotels. Negatives - This hotel shows its age, a lot of damage and not updated spaces. While it was reasonably cleaned, it still felt old. - Housekeeping was okay, we came back to a messily made bed, or only one towel instead of two. We ended up buying our own soap because even when requested it was not replaced. - We did see several cockroaches both outside and inside the hotel. As well as lots of ants inside our room. - The absolute worst thing was the food. The aquabar had decent food, but the listed partner restaurants were horrible. A lot seemed like microwaved or store bought packaged food. We did enjoy ourselves but we would not get the food package again, and our expectations would be to relax and enjoy the beautiful pool / beach as well as explore the nearby towns more.

It was not a 5 star property. You had to buy pool towels. While it was described as being on the beach, you had to rent chairs for 20€ to be on the beach. The inclusive restaurants were mediocre at best. The bars had no ginger ale got more than a week. We had to go to local supermarket and purchase our own for use at the bar. There were no frozen cocktails.

Possibly the worst hotel experience I can remember. The neighbourhood is noisy, tatty and rough. The room I was given was dirty and in dire need of refurbishment. There was nothing nice about it. The noise from the nearby “strip” continued until 6am (and this was a Tuesday night) with yobbish shouting and “singing” continuously. While the view to the from of the balcony was a decent sea view, the side view was of a rubbish dump. I checked out after one night (was supposed to stay three). The manager was apologetic and offered me another room but I was just desperate to get well away from there. I was surprised that no refund was offered

This property is not more than a 1 star. Rooms are extremely outdated. Washrooms smell. AC does not work properly. It might have been a 5 star during 1960s but looks like time changed but hotel owner decided to not invest even a single euro after the 1st opening. Please stay away from this place if you coming to enjoy the hotel. The only plus point is the proximity to the strip.

Our overall experience was good. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel was looking a little tired and could do with a spruce up but it was clean. Our first day by the pool was ruined by a bunch of rowdy men shouting and swearing, hence we went to the beach and never went back to the pool. We were all inclusive and the food was excellent though the bbq grill at the muthu garden was absolutely terrible. Firstly they argued we had not booked but i could quite cleary see my name on the list. The staff didnt seem to know what they were doing! Our food was served an hour after we were seated! All the other customers were not happy either. We did not return to the muthu garden to try the other restaurants! All the other restaurants were good though. But apart from that one experience we had a very good holiday and the strip was two minutes up the road with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
