The hotel is nice enough inside but the experience was seriously lacking.
Meant to be pay on arrival, free to cancel until midnight the day before arrival yet the hotel took money from my bank 2 days before arrival.
4 days before arrival I received an email informing me that there is €50 a night deposit, fine if you’re staying a night before a flight but when you’re staying 5 nights it’s a large chunk of extra cash to find 4 days before you go. It’s not stated anywhere on this site about it, nor upon booking.
I booked a room with double bed and sofa bed, I got a twin with a squeaky rickety old metal bed thing that my son refused to sleep on so he ended up on the sofa for the entire stay.
The rooms are apparently sound proofed, but the room in our room didn’t seal closed properly so the room was in fact not sound proofed nor draught proof.
The hotel sat and show in pictures that shampoo/conditioner/body gel are provided in bathrooms.. the bottle dispensers in my room were empty and I asked for them to be filled. When I left after 5 days they were still empty.
We went to the cafe in the main building, to be told to take a seat and someone would take our order. After 27 mins of waiting we left and went elsewhere for coffee and food.
Overall it’s probably the worst stay I’ve had in 9 visits to Amsterdam. Have stayed in many Marriott bonvoy hotels and this has possibly been the worst experience so far. Would not stay again.
