This was my third time at this property and have liked it. THIS time, however, I was informed that guests are not allowed to have guests in their room. You have to socialize in the lobby. This happened as I was headed to my room with a guest. Not posted anywhere in the lobby or on Expedia or informed at check-in. Said it was because of noise complaints in the past.

I loved my stay at Owl Hotel (stayed 3 days) but here’s some info on what I liked and disliked so you can decide if it’ll work for your trip. Likes: -It’s the absolute best location. We walked everywhere, and if you’re not in the mood to walk too much there’s a tram and bus stop very nearby. Super close to the main city area with bars/shops/etc., and also very close to Vondel Park which was a beautiful spot for morning strolls and breakfast. That being said, it’s a good enough distance from main areas that we weren’t kept up with street noise. -It’s super cute and just has more character than if you went to a big chain hotel. If you’re looking for somewhere with some charm, this place is great. -Staff was very friendly and helpful. -Room was nice and clean Dislikes (or just things you may want to know: -there doesn’t seem to be much ability to control your room temperature. We visited in February so we didn’t mind it much, but if you visit in summer and need AC, maybe think twice. -When you leave for the day they have you leave your room key with the front desk for security. That’s fine, but I noticed when we’d come back to collect our key we’d say our room number and they just gave us the key, even though it was often a different person on shift who didn’t know our faces. I didn’t feel unsafe at all but it does seem a bit unprofessional/ safety risk that they’ll just hand out the room key no questions asked. Would make me nervous if I had been travelling solo.

Not good for a couple on a romantic holiday

The location was nice but the room has stained carpet and was missing key things. Mainly the bed was not as expected and when I asked if there is a different room with a bed two people can fit in they said "no, we're fully booked and no room has a bigger bed". I thought the room was supposed to have a mini fridge, it didn't but they offered to store our things in the fridge at the front desk; We did and it wasn't cold. Another strange thing was we needed to give the room key back each time we left to go places; this felt like an invasion of privacy.

hard to imagine better value

arrived on the 379 bus from the airport plus less than a 5 minute walk. From arrival to departure the staff couldnt have been nicer. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety. The main galleries are within less than 10 minutes walk.

Great value but not for light sleepers.

Really good value hotel for the area. All reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location was well connected to the airport and there were a lot of bars and restaurants within 5mins walk. The room was clean and comfortable and I was able to find several TV shows in English. Good hot shower too. My main criteria for the hotel is however based on how well I sleep. I found the hotel noisy from inside and outside on the Friday and Saturday. The room was also particilarly hot which didn't help.

A fine hotel for a short stay. But the booking on their website offering queen beds or two twins is misleading as either booking lands you with two twin beds smashed together in the center of the room. The breakfast is also a complete scam. It is 17 euros per person per day, not that this is advertised or disclosed anywhere, for little more than toast and cold cereal.

We stayed at the Owl Hotel for 3 nights at the end of December 2024. The property was in a nice quiet neighborhood, but was still walkable to some of the more popular spots. Every staff member was so friendly and accommodating, especially my favorite member of the staff: Basel the cat. The rooms are small but functional and everything was very clean and comfortable. I saw some other reviews stated that the walls were thin and neighbors could be heard, but we didn't have any issues with that. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great stay in Amsterdam!!

I enjoyed my stay at the Owl Hotel. They have a friendly cat Basille there, partly why i chose to stay here :) hotel is clean, has small elevator and cute backyard. I stayed on 3rd floor and unfortunately wifi was very spotty and wouldnt work for more than 5min at a time. Also wouldnt work if you are laying in bed, had to find a corner where it would but again only for like 5min. Reception said they reset the router but it didnt help much. Maybe invest in stronger router or set one on each floor. Its 2024! Ridiculous to not have internet. Also crappy water pressure, but i hear it’s like that everywhere in Europe. I feel sorry for you, guys. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Great location and bus 357 takes you to/from airport in 40min door to door. No transfers needed. And only €6.75. If i’m ever again in Amsterdam, I will stay here again.
