The location is truly stunning. The view from the top floor and pool area is so spectacular. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was top quality and so much choice. Dinner was also excellent although pricy. The spa and pools were great as well. Overall the hotel is a great spot, some of the decor felt outdated and outdoors some repairs are needed. But we were very happy with our stay.

Conflicted Views:

Positives: Stunning views, excellent pool/area, spa. Spacious suite, vg bathroom, comfy bed. Staff - courteous, helpful and professional. Negatives: Decor - soulless/minimalistic. Restaurant/Ruby Bar - Lacking atmosphere. Food hit/miss, charcuterie boards 👌 Whole layout generally gave a sterile, isolated feeling. Would probably need a car to get the best from this location. Summary: Hotel doesn't really make the most of it's location, could do with the services of an interior designer to give it a more welcoming feeling, better ambience and create nicer seating areas and more aesthetically pleasing pool area.Could also provide, a customer service/concierge facilitating tours/activities directly from the hotel with third parties, a courtesy courier service to nearby train stations/villages. A good place to chill out after a day touring but it's difficult to get past the sterile, soulless atmosphere.

A beautiful, clean hotel on the Douro Valley. Opening the balcony door in the morning, a fresh breeze greeted me, and the sound of roosters crowing in the distant mountains marked a beautiful start to the day. The room and bed were comfortable. And the breakfast was super. I'd definitely stay here again.

Not worth it

Outdated, bad food and not very nice. The terrace had a nice view but that was it. The hot tub area was depressing (no good view, didn’t feel much like a spa was basically a long swimming pool with jets) the deckchairs were uncomfortable. The long white dim corridors felt a little sad. For a 5 star spa hotel we expected much more. We ended up checking out early because it wasn’t for us. Far away from anything so be mindful there’s not much to do at the hotel. The spa treatments also were expensive for what they were. A shame really!

Not good value for money

We are paying almost EUR 200 per nights but I’m afraid the hotel doesn’t deserve that. It feels like a dated 4* hotel, rooms are basic, breakfast is stale and doesn’t have avo, salmon or a cook-to-order egg station. Most of the hotel looks and feels tired. Bathroom lock doesn’t work and phone in room also doesn’t work so had to call reception from my mobile. Staff are friendly, they gave us late check out which was nice. For a spa hotel, the massage was very average. I heard they are closing in October for renovations which makes sense, much needed.

This hotel needs a major refresh & a new interior designer. Too stark and dated with the exception of the light fixtures, which were very cool! The bed & pillows are terrible! Like sinking into a hole. Massages were equally below standard! The whole place feels like an episode from Severance. However, the breakfast buffet and the view were excellent!

Booked a stay for me and my wife as a routine escape and i didn't regret it. The most exquisite views and surroundings. The Staff were impecable. The only finger pointing I will do is some lack of maintenace. From almost broken doorknobs, elevator panels almost coming off, fissures on the walls and a hole outside on the floor at the outdoor pool leaves a sour taste to it, as it is a 5 star hotel. Nonetheless a great experience. Just be advised, the means of transport in the area are really scarse, and if you wish to have a nearby local dining experience you will be disappointed, as there are no nearby restaurants or even shops/supermarkets. Either you dine at the restaurant hotel, which you need previous reservation (1 Day prior) or you ask for room service, which is equally good. The bar offers lights meals as well. Also don't forget any type of necessaire, no shops or supermarkets in the area.
