It was just downhill from the start.. Granted I arrived a bit later than expected, the desk staff was too busy on their cell phones to pay much attention. The parking situation is ridiculous, first come first serve for a parking garage that will barely fit a standard suv. The hotel fireplace although welcoming and warming in the lobby made the entire floor smell like smoke. I was given an Expedia member voucher which I was told I had to use that night, with staff knowing their restaurants were closing in 15 min, and not able to use on the day I departed. The elevator, the hallways, all dirty, the room was very similar. Lastly in the middle of the night all I could hear was chewing in the walls, this place definitely has rodents. It’s just an old run down place that needs a solid cleaning and an update to bring it to the level of other hotels in the area. Without making a big deal of things, I tried expressing my displeasure to the desk staff upon checkout but they are young and simply don’t care or understand. Thankfully I was only there for one night. I would strongly encourage staying almost anywhere else in Banff.
