Shockingly Rude Staff – I Do Not Recommend This Hotel I booked Hotel Medinaceli expecting a smooth stay after reading great reviews, but the service was genuinely shocking. We arrived before check-in (fully understanding and willing to wait), but a staff member, Javier, tried to charge €15 for early access even though rooms were clearly available. After we declined, his attitude immediately turned dismissive. Later, when we simply asked about a higher-floor room, he became openly rude and completely unprofessional. To make things worse, Javier even asked a bellboy to tell us we couldn’t refill our water bottle in the lobby area, which is clearly for guests to use freely. This felt petty, unwelcoming, and completely unnecessary. I’ve traveled extensively, and this is one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve had. I absolutely **do not recommend** Hotel Medinaceli, to be honest, some staff were good but its just that one person spoiled the trip for us.

Great location—walking distance to everything! The front desk service was very good, and the entire property was exceptionally clean, giving off a luxurious vibe. The breakfast buffet was a wonderful addition to the stay. Overall, I had an excellent experience and would definitely stay here again.

A great place to stay in Barcelona if you want a modernized, traditional, clean small hotel with wonderful, caring staff. Will definitely stay again if I ever return to Barcelona. We stayed pre-cruise for 3 nights in a King sized bedroom with a small balcony overlooking the square. Within walking distance were small cafes that offered pastries and juices for breakfast and then there were many restaurants for dinner. It was a short walk to Las Rambla and the Hop On Hop Off Bus.
