Delay in checking in due to computer upgrade but beyond staff control. Key card wouldn’t work second day on return, bit annoying as tired and just wanted to get into room but sorted quickly by reception staff. Good there was phone by lift to ring, even though I had to go down to reception anyway to get new cards.
Pluses: Nice hotel, great location, comfortable bed in reasonable sized room.
Minuses: Bathroom smelled badly of sewage and the sink had no plug. Had we stayed more than one night I would’ve asked to be moved elsewhere. One Of the lifts was out of order and appeared to have been so for some time.
Stayed here to go to the Robbie Williams concert in Bath It was reasonable price compared to a lot of others in the area and walking distance to the Crescent and train station The room was lovely and clean with a river view and lovely comfy beds. The bathroom was clear and a good shower. The breakfast was fantastic - everything you could possibly want and the gentleman showing everyone to their tables was really friendly and a credit to the hotel
We love staying at the Doubletree, a bit expensive but phew we have Tesco vouchers. Rooms are comfy, staff are friendly. Food is reasonable prices, alcohol not so, but it is Bath. They did struggle with the breakfast, a bit short of staff. There were no tomato's, no Alpen or the nuts. The bacon was strangely folded in half and way under cooked, still a cracking breakfast though.
The major moan is the parking, £36 for 2 nights.
Avoid if possible.
First of all issues with checking in as they did not have one of my confirmed Expedia bookings in their system.
Took approximately 45 minutes to sort out (staff blamed it on "The System" only to learn that our assigned room would not be ready until 4:15.
Came back at that time, room still not ready and another wait to be re-booked into another room.
Room itself was OK, on the small side but clean and modern.
On our second day we left to explore Bath at around 11:00 a.m., and noticed housekeeping were outside our room.
We got back around 3:30 p.m only to find that housekeeping had not been to our room despite being literally outside four and a half hours earlier.
Went to reception, another long wait as only one staff member on duty and was told that housekeeping were still preparing rooms for new check-ins and that they would get to our room "sometime later".
I asked if I could at least get clean towels and was told that they would try their best.
Headed back to the room to encounter housekeeping in the corridor cleaning another room. Thankfully the supervisor (Adrian) was able to help me out with towels, water and coffee and was very apologetic about the lack of service (due to staff calling in sick) unlike the reception staff whose attitude was very poor.
About half an hour later another staff member did follow up but for the price we had paid we would expect a higher level of responsiveness.
Stay was let down by only one lift working for the whole weekend. Extended wait periods from our 4th floor room to get out. Poor signage prevented finding the correct staircase to reach the lobby. First attempt to get out resulted in using two staircases that were alarmed and unable to exit. At one point phoned for room service and staff were too busy to assist
Great central location. Lovely sized room and very quiet.
The sink overflow was very mouldy and there were some stains in the shower but other than that very good.
We went to a concert and the hotel was very good for what we needed to go to the concert and easy to get back after. Just a 10 minute walk. We would stay at the hotel again, as it was in walking distance to a lot of interesting places near by.
