Very high quality hotel. Fantastic Breakfast, items for all tastes. I especially appreciated "gravlax" (cured salmon in contrast to smoked salmon, which was also served). Very helpful staff to recommend tours etc. Excellent location. I walked to the fish market, Bryggen, Aquarium. My room had a sloping ceiling so limited height in half the room, which required considerable acrobatics to close one of the window shades. To do it remotely would be helpful.

The hotel is located in an excellent central location and is walkable to a lot of nearby places. The service really needs to improve. Most of the working crew (including the restaurant) had faces with no smiles…not at all welcoming we stayed 3 nights and they didn’t even bother to do housekeeping including taking out the trash, providing fresh towels when I informed the front desk, there was no apology or anything. Please do better

Negatives: June 1, 2025 I ordered a pizza from the hotel restaurant. By June 2, 2025 I was transported by ambulance to Haukland Hospital, Bergen Norway for a 3 day stay after experiencing severe gastroenteritis due to food poisoning. Symptoms included critical dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, cramping, extreme lower abdominal pain, mass blood loss due to intestinal inflammation and passing of blood in diarrhea. Infection markers in my blood were quite high and the pizza is the only thing I had eaten that day other than the same hotel’s breakfast buffet. All indications point to the source of infection coming from the hotel restaurant. Positives: the room was nice. They were kind enough to store my suitcase while I was in the hospital for 3 days.

Great location and breakfast, nice staff. I don’t get the comments about the halls - we spent no time inspecting the halls, just went to our room when we got off the elevator. Nice large bathroom, room had a balcony and great views.

Location! Location! Location! Perfect location on the wharf across from Bryggen and seeing that view was priceless every time. The only thing that was not so great is the location of our room, we have to pass a utility area but the room is decent and window views reminded us of Peterpan movie. Very European and old architecture that we love.

I am so glad we stayed at the Admiral in Bergen. This hotel offers the best view of the "row houses" on the opposite side of the water. Incomparable views from our room and the breakfast room. We could see the "row houses" from our bed and in the nighttime, we could also see the lights from the Floibanen going up Mt. Floyen. Absolutely spectacular views! Nearly every table at breakfast has a direct view of this spectacular sight. Very close to the airport bus drop off so you can drag your suitcases to the hotel; also close to departure gates for cruises. Breakfast is amazing with many choices. The servers are very efficient but polite. You never feel rushed to hurry and finish your meal.

Amazing breakfast included ! Large comfortable lobby with bar. Comfortable beds. Excellent shower! Right on the water and easy to walk to everything. Would definitely recommend staying here. Oh, and did I mention there is an Amazing breakfast!

Unethical behaviour from staff

Firstly I have never written a negative review before. My treatment at this hotel was appalling. I was abused in a very bad way by restaurant staff when going to breakfast 15 minutes early. It was Easter Sunday and hotel changed breakfast from 6:30am to 8am. Staff at reception day prior suggested I go to breakfast early as I had an 8am all day tour. They said all food may not be out but eat what was. As I was on tour I tried talking via app. I did get a very bland apology from a staff member via the app. Treatment was so bad – hotel should have got relevant staff member to apologise. Or perhaps a sincere chat with a manager or a sincere handwritten note. If I had spoken to hotel staff the way they spoke to me – security would have been called and probably asked to leave. My conversation in the app was cold on there part and I felt they were sweeping under the carpet. Do not stay at this hotel as if something goes wrong – you will not be supported.
