Welcome to Magic on 17th Street, built in 1906! Our charming three-bedroom, two-bath historic home is just a 6-minute walk from UAB, making it perfect for families, students, and professors. It's also minutes from UAB Hospital-Highland and Children's of Alabama, ideal for traveling nurses and medical professionals. We've included both professional and real-time photos from our cleaning team to give you an accurate view. We look forward to hosting you!

Guests will enter the house through the front door using a digital keypad. The living area features a sofa bed and a Smart TV, allowing you to stream your favorite shows and movies using your subscribed services. Off the living room is our kitchen and dining room. With five beds available, you and your guests will have plenty of space for a rejuvenating night's sleep. We are pet friendly with a fee and want pet owners to take note that the backyard is not fenced in, but it still offers outdoor space for enjoyment. NOTE: we use portable A/C units to cool the home, not central air. ***A pack 'n play/travel crib is available upon request.***

Most disappointing VRBO stay

We arrived after a long day of travel through flash floods, only to be immediately disappointed by the condition of the property. It looked nothing like the photos—aged, dirty, and poorly maintained. The front door didn’t even latch properly without the deadbolt. I contacted VRBO support to report numerous issues: only one working AC unit for three upstairs bedrooms in the Alabama summer heat, a bathroom door that wouldn’t close, broken and mismatched furniture, a broken pull-out couch, missing outlet covers, curtain rods falling off, and belongings from previous guests still there.On Day 2, my pregnant wife cut her foot on an exposed staple on the stairs while following our two young kids. She needed a tetanus shot. My father and father-in-law removed 58 nails/staples from the stairs. We also found two broken chairs, sharp objects in the carpet, paint on a drinking glass, and broken glass in the dishwasher. I requested a full refund, which the property manager said they’d look into.By Day 3, we were told to vacate immediately—without any prior notice or time to arrange new accommodations. Thankfully, a VRBO rep helped us find a new place and offered financial support. While a refund was promised, we haven’t received it yet.VRBO did what they could, but this property was unsafe, misleading, and unacceptable. I absolutely cannot recommend it to anyone.
