No ice machines on the floors. When asked about getting ice for wine I was told they don’t do that. I only got one small cup of ice. Two out of three elevators were not functioning. The air conditioning did not work. The refrigerator in the room was generating more heat than the air conditioner. Mold was seen in the bathroom tub. I would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone.

Only option close to the airport. Not great

Convenient to Bologna airport but in the boonies and not convenient to anything else. No pool beds old restaurant had great potential but limited menu with several items not available- what’s that about. Good conference setting but we were looking for rest and relaxation. Breakfast limited and expensive.

We booked this hotel for its proximity to the airport and the free shuttle, which was convenient. (Although be aware the shuttle does not run between 1230 and 2100) However, our overall experience was disappointing. The room felt musty and warm, despite the A/C running. The beds were hard with flat pillows. The bathtub creaked when showering like it was going to break (I’m 130 lbs) The room across from us was open and empty full of old mattresses which added to the creepy vibe. We didn’t see a single other guest and thought we were alone in the hotel until we went to dinner. Dinner was very expensive and took a long time just for us to have water and pizza. It seemed other local Italians were served first before us (English speaking people) which I thought ethnic and race discrimination was illegal in Italy. We’re not sure if it was just an oversight, but it added to the strange vibe. was the only option for food given the location and low accessibility to the hotel. The elevators also need maintenance based on the bumpy and loud ride. The hotel is giant, and empty of chairs and pictures/ Art that most big hotels have that make it feel more comfortable. A hotel we stayed in down town Bologna was much nicer at a better cost than this “high rated” hotel. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t stay here again.

The location is ideal for those early morning departures. Pricing very reasonable. With this said, the room was in poor condition. I moved a table, it was so wobbly i thought it would collapse. The bathroom had mildew all around the tub areas. This isnt allow ling me to add photos., but i have them.

The front desk person was very helpful and clear. hotel has a shuttle but the first one is at 4:45 which was a little late for us. While we were going to the airport there were four other groups who also ended up taking taxi’s. I don’t understand why they couldn’t provide a taxi a half hour earlier. The hotel itself is a little run down with peeling wall paper and looking a little tired.

There is no coffee in the rooms. Airconditioning barely worked. Our room was too far from the routers to get any internet signal. The fridge element was 2/3 frozen so didn't work. Room numbering is very odd and takes awhile to find your room. Best thing about the place is its proximity to the airport, it's cheap and the property has a lot of nice trees on it.

Location was ideal as we had a late flight into Bologna. Sadly missed the last shuttle but taxi was 12 euros. Staff were very rude which was disappointing and gave no information about the shuttle breakfast etc. Room was basic but it was all we needed and was clean. Pillows were rock hard so would definitely recommend changing them! And it would have been nice to have a coffee machine in the room perhaps. But it did the job for a sleep a shower and back to the airport.

Good and clean, Wifi very bad for rooms on end

Overall the hotel is okay, it's a good price, is clean, and is relatively close to the airport. However; it looks closer on the map than it really is, requires a long loop around, not a direct path. Building is outdated, but the room appears to have been maintained well. Overall it's good value considering the prices of other hotels in the Bologna area. 2 main issues I had: I had room 127, which is the furthest room away. the lobby is on floor 4, it's on a hill, and the rooms are on 1 - 5. 127 is the bottom floor and the room at the very end of the wing, and apparently means you do not get the WiFi signal. And it didn't work on 3 different devices, so it's the way it's implemented. Front desk - manager - answer: Too bad, sorry, we can't do anything. No compensation whatsoever. Second, and this maybe a local preference, but the bathroom is a wet bath, the shower is in a corner with no walls or curtain. The bathroom is a generous size, but taking a shower means the whole floor is wet, and just using the sink or anything afterwards involves stepping on water. The bathroom is clean, just a bit strange. A bit quirky but good value for the area - just avoid any rooms on the extreme end if you want to use WiFi.

This was the worst hotel stay we have ever had. The room was incredibly hot so we left our patio door open however the patio doors in the hotel adjoin the next room. Our neighbors were incredibly loud, tv blaring, and were have loud “activities” from 600pm which carried on all evening and night. I’m not sure if the room was rented by a sort of worker. The front desk was not helpful and would not move us. In the bar and restaurant, the hostess was almost hostile - very unfriendly. We arrived at 3pm from A flight to connect early the next morning. There is no food available at this hotel from 230-730pm. We tried to walk to what looked like a small local restaurant however after an hour of walking around no food was found. We would never stay here again. The best part of the stay was the amazing and efficient taxi who picked us up at 330am to make our connecting flight. The taxi process is very easy and efficient. Note that the hotel shuttle hours are very very limited and unless you fly in those times you will need a taxi.

just another stay at the Fly-on

I use this hotel on and off for travelling to Italy for Business purposes. its location is key next to the airport which is why I choose it. The hotel is in need of modernisation for sure in the rooms as they are becoming quite tired especially in the bathrooms. Staff are very very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is also very good with a good choice for breakfast. Overall this hotel is Ok and will continue to use it but would love to see some investment in modernisation as it has great potential being near to the airport.
