Rating: 3/5 We recently stayed at Rydges Southbank and while the overall stay was great, our check-in experience left a lot to be desired. We arrived to a long line and only one staff member checking in guests. Opted for self check-in which was thankfully smooth. Unfortunately, the requested baby cot (confirmed months in advance) wasn’t in the room. When we followed up, Declan at reception dismissed it, claiming nothing was on the booking—even when we offered to show proof. He then hung up. After over 3 hours, multiple ignored calls, and no follow-up as promised, we were left with a tired 5-month-old well past bedtime and no safe sleep solution. We were even asked what we thought was a suitable solution, which felt like pressure to accept something unsafe. Eventually, after walking down to reception again, we were told a cot was on the way—finally delivered close to 9pm. No apologies, just attitude. That said, the rest of our stay was lovely. Huge thanks to Sandy in guest services who quickly brought extra towels and made the kids’ bath time a highlight. Would consider staying again, but the check-in and cot situation really needs attention.

My husband and I stayed with our two toddlers for two nights over the Easter long weekend. The front desk and concierge staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, and had all the creature comforts we could have wanted. The location is brilliant—perfect for accessing all the highlights of South Bank. The buffet breakfast was a hit with the whole family, and the staff in the restaurant were also exceptional. The only downside to our stay was the size of the pool, which was quite small. Overall, highly recommend.

The stream cast kept kicking my device off, very frustrating, no sun loungers around the pool, pool a bit small for such a large motel, the view from my room was terrible, could hear the people next door so clearly it felt like they were in my room. Only saving grace was the staff who were incredibly helpful, friendly and professional.

The suite room we had was well equipped for a stay- spacious, reasonable view towards Brisbane CBD, smart bathroom, lots of cupboards and drawers, mini kitchen facility and very comfortable bed. However, I would mention that the pillows and bedding sheeting were poor condition. Pillows slumped in the middle and sheeting too short. Overall, a good facility.

This was our second time staying at Rydges Southbank and both times we have stayed 2 nights and happy with our stay. Its very central to get around southbank and walk over to the city and the valet parking was convenient although a bit expensive for us. The beds are comfortable, warm with ample pillows, its easy to find our way around and the buffet breakfast was the highlight! There was some loud music within the building from about 7pm onwards, im not sure if it was from a function or another room but it made it hard to stay asleep which was annoying. The staff are friendly, helpful and very accommodating. I would recommend you get a room with a balcony as its nice to get some fresh air and take in the views of the city and river, even though some of the view is blocked by the building in front. Overall a great stay.
