The immediate area around the cottage is a walker’s and cyclist’s paradise with a selection of fells, pikes, and woods to explore, and within a 30 minutes’ drive you can be at Coniston Water, the sight of the famous Donald Campbell’s water speed world record.

A short 10 minutes’ drive away is the market town of Broughton in Furness. Broughton has excellent amenities with a selection of local shops, tourist information centre and petrol station. In and around Broughton you will also find some of the excellent pubs, including several award winners, many offering good quality food alongside their real ales and roaring fires, you will be spoilt for choice as to where to dine out. For a family day out there is plenty to offer such as South Lakes Safari Zoo at nearby Dalton, Muncaster Castle with its owl sanctuary, Eskdale miniature railway, the Lakes Aquarium and boat trips on Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. You’ll never be short of something to do.
