Please note: There are 6 steps in the garden. There are open stairs at the property.. Nestled in the scenic village of Rhyd Ddu, this cherished holiday cottage offers a warm and inviting retreat for up to four guests.
Lovingly maintained by its current owner, the cottage exudes comfort and character, making it a perfect base for exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia). Inside, the open-plan lounge and kitchen area provide a cosy setting, with a charming log burner that promises snug evenings after a day of adventure. The kitchen is thoughtfully equipped, ensuring you have everything needed to prepare hearty meals. The lounge, with its comfy seating, invites you to relax and unwind. The cottage also boasts a delightful rear garden, where you can enjoy morning coffee or evening stargazing, as the village is in a certified ’dark sky’ area, allowing for a clear view of the night sky and stars. On a clear night the view of the sky is stunning, and the moonlight can be strong enough to provide light for a midnight trek up Snowdon. A gate at the garden’s rear leads directly to the popular, scenic Rhyd Ddu Path a few steps away, or alternatively towards the Snowdon Ranger’s Path, both offering exhilarating routes up Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon). There are numerous other mountain walks straight from the cottage, including Mynedd Mawr and the Nantlle Ridge, the Snowdonia slate trail, and walks on lower ground through the Beddgelert Forest, making it an ideal haven for hiking enthusiasts.
The surrounding area is rich withattractions. The Welsh Highland Railway running from Porthmadog to Caernarfon stops at the Rhyd Ddu station, only 150 metres away from the cottage, where you can experience a delightful journey on one of the WHR steam trains. Nearby, Beddgelert is a picturesque village, renowned for its stone cottages, charming riverside setting, and lush surroundings. The multi-use recreational path from Rhyd Ddu to Beddgelert, Lon Gwyrfrai, leads though a variety of landscapes offering fantastic views of the surrounding area. Beddgelert village is steeped in legend, including the tale of Gelert’s grave, and visitors can enjoy scenic walks by the rivers, welcoming pubs, and craft shops, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
A short drive brings you to Llanberis, a charming village brimming with history and outdoor activities. Explore the National Slate Museum, ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or enjoy peaceful walks around Llyn Padarn. For a change of scenery, head to Dinas Dinlle, a beautiful beach just 11 miles away, where you can enjoy coastal views and the fresh sea breeze. Whether you’re seeking mountain adventures, cultural experiences, or seaside relaxation, this cottage in Rhyd Ddu offers it all.
Its tranquil setting, combined with convenient access to some of North Wales’s most iconic destinations, makes it a truly special retreat. Ideal for families, couples, or friends, this homely cottage invites you to create lasting memories in one of Wales’ most stunning regions.
