Initially I was pleasantly surprised by the property given the price we were paying. When we got to the room however, I could understand the price. The room smelt musty and damp. I put that down to all the rain that FNQ had been having. What I couldn't get past though were the cockroaches. The first one I came across when I opened the cutlery drawer and a little one was looking up at me. When my daughter opened it again later, one twice the size had taken it's place. Several emerged from under the sofa while we sat watching TV. When I went to turn the light on in the bedroom there was one sitting on the light switch. When three scuttled out from under the telephone on the bedside table I knew I wasn't going to get much sleep. Response I received from the receptionist when I checked out in the morning was 'oh sorry'. Safe to say I wouldn't recommend.

Good base for all activities

Stayed here 30 years ago and although looking little tired was still good place to stay. Rooms serviced daily by friendly staff. Was looking forward to poolside swim up bar and shuttle service into CBD but neither are available anymore which was a shame but didn’t spoil our trip. We regularly walked the 4km to the esplanade instead of relying on uber or having to rent a car in between trips planned. Overall an enjoyable stay

The pace was fairly clean and had everything we needed! The hotel was beautiful and had so many things to do as well as two restaurants and a poolside bar. Our room was bigger than expected with a mini fridge and large closet. The only reason I didn't rate the cleanliness higher is there were ants in our bathroom, but they didn't cause any problems or get into our rood in the fridge.
