Nice room, good amount of space, the bed was quite comfortable. The dining area and bar looked nice but we were out in Cambridge meeting friends and didn't eat or drink at the hotel. Two main improvers are the signage (especially given the traffic restrictions, and it was not clear where the car park was) and the shower - which was feeble.

Great location and good value if you want to avoid the traffic, crowds and parking stress in central Cambridge. We parked at the nearby Park & Ride (7 minute easy walk and cost us £20 for 2 nights - half the price of the hotel parking). Bus ride into town was quick. There’s also a regular bus stop opposite the hotel. We walked back from the city centre - about 40 minutes. Great amenities on the hotel’s doorstep (Sainsbury’s, coffee shop, restaurants). However, you’re also surrounded by private and student accommodation, which made for a noisy Saturday night, well into the early hours of Sunday morning. Unbeknownst to us our room door had also not actually been locking when we pulled it shut. We realized on the morning we were leaving but the front desk staff seemed completely unconcerned and offered only a cursory apology when we mentioned this and the noise - wasn’t expecting any big gestures from Hyatt but this lack of basic customer service made us feel undervalued as guests. However, for the reasons first mentioned, we’d recommend this location.

Pros: really clean, modern, felt safe, professional and helpful staff, dining options available, nice shower and comfortable bed. Cons: limited parking and directed to a car park that is 8 mins walk away. Full review: Great modern room, staff at the front desk were professional and helpful, the shower was fantastic and the bed really comfortable. I had a great nights sleep. The room was very clean! I didn’t take the breakfast option, but one was available and there were also dinner options, although again i didn’t take them. With hotels, I need to feel safe and comfortable and this hotel felt exactly that. The only con during my stay was that the parking was full when i arrived so they directed me to an alternative car park which was 8 mins walk away - something i didn’t feel like doing in the dark in an area i don’t know well. Luckily i found overnight parking nearby but i wouldn’t let this stop me from returning.

Good overall experience

Good size room and bathroom. Quality fittings and decoration. Great breakfast options. Evening meal options nearby. Only negatives were parking opportunities at the hotel. Deluge Shower head could do with a descale, due to water jet going all over the place (apart from down!).

I have given bottom marks for cleanliness, this is why; as pensioners we can very occasionally suffer a 'leak' in bed, so we travel with bed protection which goes under the sheet. At bedtime on the first night, turning down the sheet revealed on the mattress topper the stains of bodily fluids of previous occupant(s); this was reported the next morning and the mattress topper was removed but NOT replaced. That was reported after the second night (and as a gesture of goodwill, the £40 parking charge was credited). Reception counter staff were helpful after both complaints. I am unhappy and marked 0/5 because the HOUSEKEEPING processes are clearly inadequate; chambermaids need to be better trained and fresh mattress toppers have to be available. I'm sure each chambermaid does her best, but I suggest that management have to run a tighter and better hotel. The draught at the front door is awful, leaves blew in constantly and it's very cold sitting anywhere near there. What about building an inner doorway and putting in overheat radial heating?
