While we enjoyed the renovated rooms, outstanding housekeeping, and exceptional specialty restaurants, significant issues overshadowed our stay. A surprise $250 "tax" upon arrival was an unwelcome shock. The buffet was lacking and wait times for freshly cooked were long. Most alarming was the gym staff's unacceptable service and any attempt to address my concern. I cannot recommend this is resort due to its profound failure in customer care.

My room was incredible, the food here is top of the line, and the amenities are always great for relaxation! The only issue I had is that one night I had my door battery die and I couldn't get into my room. This wouldn't have been that big of an issue but the staff took about 30 minutes before they came to work on my door, and unfortunately the mosquitoes were really bad this time around the year. That was the only unfortunate thing that happened during my time while staying.

The room was very clean, spacious with good amenities. Loved how they stocked the fridge with drinks daily adding super convenience. Essentially this is 3 resorts in one with many food options and activities.

First time staying at the resort. About 3rd visit to Quintana Roo. This place was hands down one of the most cleanest spot we've stayed in. Having a butler throughout the day helped out a lot as well. They were super friendly and awesome. The only cons I have is that the servers and bartenders, looked like they were just there to work and that's it. Which is ok, I'm just used to other areas that they are super friendly, chatty, and tell you were the best spots in town are when leaving the resort. Either way, great spot and will be coming back for sure

I paid thousands of dollars for an all inclusive hotel, but the staff wouldnt provide alcohol or decent food unless you tip them. I saw some strange behaviour from the cooks and bartenders. So dissapointed.

We just did a week with our kids (5 and 8 ). They went to the kids club 4 times. In comparison to Royal Caribbean, our kids liked El Cid better - from what I could see the workers really try hard to give them a good experience. As we lounged at the Ventus pool, we had workers come by to play games with our kids (connect four and such). The Marina pool had a fun vibe for our 8yo and he jumped off the rock 52 times one day. The swim up bar treated kids well and didn’t ignore them for adults or anything. Thursday nights they do a fiesta party outside with Mexican food and music. It was a highlight for both our boys. The beach is lackluster, but that didn’t really stop our family. We had fun playing on the sand and boogie boarding in the water. Night walks on the beach were a fun pre-bedtime activity. There are also a lot of iguanas and geckos for the kids to spot if they aren’t feeling like swimming etc. it was fun for them to spot the wildlife.

Just spent 5 nights at Marina El Cid resort and spa. Our stay was great. The staff was wonderful, the resort was clean (and always being cleaned!) the food was excellent and there were several restaurants to choose from. The only negative was the mosquitoes so take bug spray. Would definitely go back.
