The staff was very nice and hardworking. They are very kind, helpful. They were genuinely concerned for our safety and coordinated with transportation. Leticia Laura the concierge was very helpful in setting up our tours and making our stay comfortable. The food was okay. The breakfast buffet was nice. Mainly Mexican, American, Asian cuisines. I wish there was more variety and the menus were limited. Our room was very nice and spacious. We had access to the other resort Royal Sands, which has bigger pools and the beach at Royal Sands was prettier. The only annoying thing was the timeshare presentation for 1 and 1/2 hour, but we got through it and got 2 free tours one to Chichén Itzá and a taco tour where we ate unlimited tacos for an hour. If you say no and are willing to sit through the presentation and handle high pressure sales tactics, then it might be worth it.

We had such a wonderful stay with our family of 6 this winter! The family villa had plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. It was very clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back. The pools were great and the beach was lovely. I enjoyed the peaceful water and if we wanted to have more waves we could just go over to the sister resort for the day which was awesome and such a different experience. There was plenty to do in town and at both resorts. We stayed for 10 days and wished we had longer. Thank you Royal Cancun for such a memorable experience for our family.

We had a wonderful transportation and check in at the hotel. They actually gave us an unexpected upgrade as well, which was so kind. We went with our two children so the convenience of food, etc was key for us. The beach, pools, and palapa were so convenient for us. Unfortunately we did not have great weather (we went in January when that Polar Vortex hit and yes, Cancun felt a glimpse of it). Because it was hoodie weather, we didn’t get to take advantage of the pools or ocean much, but we when we did, they were great. There were at least a few other activities available for kids and adults so we weren’t totally bored. The tennis courts were super fun and the painting was one of our favorites. The lady really accommodated our needs by trying to get the type of ceramics we wanted to paint. We had a great family trip and took advantage of the Sand’s amenities as well. As for cons, I wish the shuttle came at least once an hour versus once every other. That made it difficult to travel to the Sands and back. I also did miss seeing the main beach and hearing the waves but seeing Isla Mujeres across the way was cool. Some of the servers at the Palapa were not as excited/friendly as in the past but many, such as Vicente & Carlos were wonderful. One thing we did not like at all was that we had our bracelets on all week but still had to give our room key to each restaurant, even after giving the hostess our room #. And it was very hard to get the key back after eating most times…

The staff was fantastic, couldn't say enough about how great they all were. The resort concierge was top notch! Plus the properly is very well maintained. You can tell they take care to keep it clean and tidy. Food was solid as well. The beach could have had less seaweed and whatnot but, you cannot really control these things, it's nature!

We had such a wonderful time at Royal Cancun! The food was really good (even Asian night, despite other reviews), and the staff was almost all friendly, kind and fun. There is definitely a tip requirement here, so take that into account when planning your stay. The staff gets paid $20CAD/day, so of course they need tips to survive. Carlos at the beach bar, Alfredo for poolside service, and the housekeeping staff were all fantastic! We had such a great time we seriously considered a time share. And on that note, do they offer you the time share shpiel? Yes - but just gently offered in exchange for free massages or discounted tours. Dan at the desk was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. We did the presentation and it definitely went long, but Charly was friendly and funny throughout. The other guests were all friendly and kind, and there were a good number, but not too many kids around. Enough for fun and playmates for our son, without being overwhelmed by constant craziness. The sister resort you can shuttle to (Royal Sands) had a water park and was way more busy and expansive - so if you're looking for a party and tons of other people, that's the place for you. If you're looking for a quiet, family-friendly place to enjoy some sun, fun and water - Royal Cancun is it! Rarely do we repeat where we go on vacation, but we are already figuring out how to try to get back here again next year and are going to bring more family with us!

Beautiful property with wonderful staff - we have stayed here numerous times. The beach in front is gorgeous however water is a little seaweedy, there are spots with no seaweed.

We had our family vacation with three kids here 6,8&10. The unit we stayed in was really nice, and you could walk out onto the beach area, the only downside was the breathless reort beside us played music really loud until 2am every night ! I was really impressed with how clean everything was and especially our room was cleaned perfectly daily. Its a smaller resort which we didnt mind because we were so close to everything and i dont personally need a ton of resteraunt options to he happy, i could always find something i liked to order if i didnt like what was offered at the buffet. As others had said there isnt a ton to do if you need to be entertained at night but we were fine with this, as we played sports with the kids which kept everyone happy. Overall its a quieter , low key resort which makes for a nice family retreat style vacation which is what we were looking for. We did take the bus a few times to the other resort which has a lovely water park and more dining options ect. It was very nice they offered that service anytime you wanted to go! The kids really enjoyed snorkelling by the doc and the water board/boat activities.

A wonderful experience!

I recently stayed at The Royal Cancun Resort, and overall, I had a fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. During our stay, we did experience a safety mishap, but the hotel staff handled it exceptionally well. They were both accommodating and apologetic, and we were very pleased with how they resolved the situation. Their attentiveness and professionalism really stood out. One great perk of staying at The Royal Cancun is that you also have access to their sister property, The Royal Sands Resort, and your all-inclusive package applies there as well. The food at The Sands was noticeably better, and the overall atmosphere felt more lively, so we found ourselves spending a lot of time there. It really felt like getting two resorts for the price of one—a great deal! As for The Royal Cancun itself, the food was decent—some dishes were better than others—but overall, it was satisfactory. One thing to keep in mind is that this resort seems more family-oriented, so if you're looking for a party atmosphere or 24/7 bar access, you might be disappointed. Liquor service ends relatively early, which was the only downside for me. That said, I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend The Royal Cancun, especially for families or anyone looking for a more relaxed vacation. The added bonus of access to The Royal Sands made the experience even better. 4.5/5!
