Enjoy end of the road privacy and get away from it all while still only being 15 minutes from town. This newly updated ranch house sits right above Mill Creek on a private road and offers a peaceful place to escape the sounds of the city while you listen to the water and the wind through the cottonwoods. Take a soak in the creek in the summer or enjoy the wood burning stove in the winter. Tucked away in a truly quiet and beautiful spot this property offers great access to all that Custer county has to offer. Whether you are hiking, biking, rafting, hunting, fishing, trail riding, skiing, birding of just out exploring, this is a great central location. Just outside of Challis we are 1/4 mile from the Custer motorway, 15 minutes from the Salmon River and all of it's fishing opportunities (you can be hooked into a steal-head before your coffee is cold), about a 1.25 hour scenic drive from Stanly and all the trails and lakes of the Sawtooths, 45 minutes from Mt. Borah (the tallest peak in Idaho), an hour from the town of Salmon and right across the valley from the Lost River Range. If the outdoors are calling this is your spot.
The house offers three bedrooms and two newly refurbished bathrooms. The queen bed downstairs, with ample closets and sliding doors facing the creek, is about the best place to let the creek and the rustling leaves lull you to sleep. Across the hall is a bathroom with a large walk in tile shower. Upstairs are two rooms with full beds, both with closets and windows facing up the creek for a great view. The upstairs bathroom has a jetted tub and a skylight for a relaxing soak after a long day of exploring.
The loft is also the TV room and includes bean bag chairs for lounging and a futon that of course can also serve as extra sleeping space for larger groups. The TV is 60" but is NOT a streaming TV so please bring your own streaming device. We do offer a selection of DVDs and Starlink internet.
The kitchen is fully outfitted with quality cookware and dinning sets, coffee cups for the whole crew, towels, toaster, baking sheets, and napkins, everything but the groceries. There is also a coffee station and we do include coffee and tea.
The large deck on two sides of the house is the ultimate hang out and features a dining table, a fun little bar, multiple comfortable chairs, several lawn games and most likely a couple over-friendly cats.
Your only human neighbors will be your fellow travelers at the adjacent cabin that is also a short term rental (or book both for larger gatherings and have the whole place to yourselves). We also provide trailer parking and have facilities for horses.
Walk down to the creek and relax in the hammocks or the Adirondack chairs or play a game of badminton.
While we do offer all the comforts of home and work hard to keep things clean and orderly it is a rural property with wild and domestic animals, a gravel road for a drive way and no cell service (only WiFi), so bring a sense of adventure and enjoy some time away from the chaos!
