Gorgeous chateau and surrounding. Great host and staff. Unbelievable service and hospitality. Amazing breakfast. Very beautiful property. The owner Marie and front desk lady Oceana are great hosts and very attentive and friendly. Unbelievable experience and memories.
Truly lovely experience at a 5 star property with an amazing hard working staff. Spending more than 8 months this year on the road, Manoir Hautegente was such a retreat treat! Tucked away just a little over 2 hours outside of Bordeaux, this high end, family owned paradise was a friendly French getaway I was not expecting. From the beautiful wheat fields when you enter the long drive way to Oakley the Manoir mascot, to the horses, fuzzy chickens, trail behind the property, and the swings in the picturesque yard where you can relax or work outside if you so choose; I just cannot say enough about Marie and her staff and what they have done to create such an amazing atmosphere for their guests. From the hardworking food servers, to the housekeepers who were on top of our room and organizing things before we could even think of it. If you are looking to get away and just forget about life, this is the place to be! Thank you all so much and we will be back.
Beautiful property, total quiet. Most helpful hosts who bent over backwards for us. On an hours’ notice they had the chef prepare us a gourmet and balanced vegan dinner. Definitely put the Manoir at the top of your list! Kudos.
The Manoir comes as quite a surprise as you pull off the road - a tree-lined drive leads up to a splendid manor-house fronting the river, with extensive gardens and a swimming pool. One of its main selling points is its gastronomic restaurant, which is indeed a joy and not to be missed. If weather permits (which in our case it did!) dinner is served on the terrace overlooking the river, preceded by aperitifs in the garden.
Rooms are large and atmospheric (as are the beds!) and comfortable, albeit unintentionally shabby-chic in some areas. Waiting staff in the restaurant are young, enthusiastic and professional - do take the advice of the sommelier, who won't try to rip you off but will recommend well-chosen wines to accompany your meal.
An ideal place to break your journey to or from the South-West; you will leave refreshed and more than a little envious of the charming owners!

Meals excellent but service not good despite plenty staff.
The waiters seemed obsessed by process and formality and did not seem to notice that we had to wait 20 minutes for a drink after we sat down despite only two other tables being occupied.
I got the idea the waiters were so regimented they could not think for themselves and keep the customers happy.
sotros.
