Wake up to the ancient Southwest.
Perched on 10 acres of high desert among twisted juniper and piñon pine trees, this 380 sq ft custom tiny house offers a quiet retreat with sweeping views of Mesa Verde, Sleeping Ute Mountain, and the La Plata Mountains — three of the most iconic landmarks in the region. Just over 20 minutes from the Mesa Verde Visitor & Research Center, it's the perfect base camp for exploring one of America's most remarkable national parks — and one of the most spectacular places to simply slow down and breathe.
- The space -
The cozy one-bedroom guest house sleeps up to 4 guests across two comfortable sleeping areas. The queen loft bedroom frames breathtaking mountain views — a truly magical way to wake up. Note that the loft is accessed by a ladder with handholds on both sides and on the treads; it may not be accessible for young children or guests with mobility concerns. Guests who prefer to stay on the main level will find a spacious king-size sofa bed waiting for them.
The interior is finished with warm Southwest décor throughout, and the property features self check-in via electronic keypad for a seamless arrival.
The property is owner-managed — we live on-site in a separate home and are always available if you need anything, while giving you complete privacy to enjoy your stay. We share the property with our two dogs, one of whom is shy around new people. For the comfort of all guests, our dogs are kept secured and away from the guest area throughout your stay.
- The outdoors -
Step onto the large east and south facing decks and let the views do the talking. As the sun goes down, gather around the fire pit under some of the darkest, most star-filled skies in Colorado. The high desert around the property is alive with wildlife — deer, jackrabbits, and foxes are frequent visitors, so keep your eyes open at dawn and dusk. A well-lit terraced path leads from the parking area to the entrance, so arriving after dark is no problem.
- Modern comfort in a wild place -
The tiny house is fully equipped with everything you need — a well-appointed kitchen, fast WiFi, air conditioning, in-floor radiant heat, and in-unit laundry. Four-legged family members are welcome too.
- A note for guests with pets -
We love welcoming four-legged guests! For their safety we strongly recommend keeping pets leashed while on the property — the surrounding high desert is home to cholla cactus, wildlife, and other natural hazards that can be tough on curious paws.
- Explore the Four Corners & Beyond -
Mesa Verde National Park entrance is about 20 minutes from the property. Note that from the park entrance, the breathtaking cliff dwellings are an additional 40 minutes into the park along scenic mesa roads — we recommend arriving with a full tank of gas and a full day set aside. It's absolutely worth it!
This location also puts you within easy reach of some of the most spectacular public lands in the American Southwest. Canyons of the Ancients National Monument and Hovenweep National Monument are less than an hour away. Natural Bridges National Monument, Bears Ears National Monument, and Monument Valley are all within two hours. Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are a scenic 2.5-hour drive — perfect for a day trip. The Four Corners Monument is also nearby for those who want to stand in four states at once.
Whether you're here for ancient archaeology, red rock canyon country, mountain biking at Phil's World, bird watching, or simply stargazing from the deck under some of Colorado's darkest skies, this is one of the most remarkable home bases in the American Southwest.
