This is a lovely and peaceful hotel - the room was cleaned to a high standard, the food was really tasty, with a good menu and well presented food. I especially enjoyed the sea bass and there was a huge selection for breakfast. The staff are very polite and obliging - nothing is too much trouble. The grounds will look lovely in summer, but even in the winter they are still nice. I really recommend a stay here.

Rooms were not clean enough. They had cobwebs and dirty glasses to drink from. The smell of smoking and toilet made it pretty unbearable to stay for the first night. We requested a clean up the next morning, and febreeze was sprayed and rest of left as it was for the next night. Very disappointed and although this is a convenient location, won’t be returning 😭

Room was large and bed very comfortable. Lots of corridors to navigate to the room...mind old and beautiful building. Shower was pretty poor though as took ages to get the water warm enough. Great place though for hiking around Box Hill.

Lovely clean and comfy bed. Repair to towel rail carried out immediately. Quiet setting despite the nearness of roads. Staff on the premises very good. Bar staff and breakfast staff excellent. Booking was diabolical. AI was rubbish.

I stayed in a privilege room, there were birds singing loudly at 3am, for atleast an hour, went to find someone to help me, no one at reception over night, had to use a whatsapp code, managed to move rooms to a smaller room at 5am, with no assistance with luggage, to find ladybugs on the bed and lamp, int he morning I asked for compensation for the terrible night sleep, unclean room and poor service, the gentleman on the front desk said it was a management decision but still a week later I have hard nothing despite sending multiple follow ups and demanding a response. It was a terrible experience that could have been handled much different and I held off writing this review to give them the benefit of the doubt and opportunity to correct it but the lack of response is just astonishing. I travel all over the world on a regular basis (every month) and I have never left a poor review on this website.

Upon arrival, the car park was unlit, despite being charged £10 to park in what was effectively a field. I was then directed to my room and informed that access required a passcode, which in itself was not an issue. However, upon entering the room, the condition was extremely disappointing. The accommodation was visibly run down and poorly maintained, with stained carpets, damaged cupboards, and furniture showing significant wear. The desk had a glass top, beneath which there was a heavy build-up of dust and grime, suggesting it had not been cleaned for a considerable period of time. Overall, the room felt unclean and neglected. Based on the property’s advertised star rating and the overwhelmingly positive reviews, my expectations were significantly higher. Unfortunately, the standard of the room was more in line with a budget, one-star property and did not reflect the price being charged. I chose not to stay and immediately booked alternative accommodation elsewhere — something I very rarely do. Sadly, this stay fell well short of what was promised and was a genuine disappointment.

We were in a room with a conjoining door..you could hear every word from next door..then they tried coming into our room!!..the place needs a good deep clean!! Wouldnt stay here again and parking is £10!!!

Me and my partner stay here on a regular basis . All the staff are friendly and really welcoming. Front of desk staff steve was very attentive to our needs . Pet friendly always a must . The rooms are warm and cosy .
