Smashing Breakfast and Dinner, however. The room we were in was in need of updating. Our friends in another part of the hotel had a really nice room. The hotel has been sold to Apex Hotels and I believe they were about to take over this past week. So hopefully they’ll continue to make improvements to the rooms. My other gripe was about the price of a dash of Lemonade/Coke at the bar….. £2!!!

Unfortunately my stay here dented my confidence in booking DoubleTree hotels as the property was in dire need of renovation. Everywhere was tired, frayed carpets, generally unclean, awful bathroom and the common areas can’t have been properly cleaned in a long time. It’s a shame because the staff were so lovely and friendly, the restaurant food was good (and they catered for an allergy) but this didn’t do enough to offset the poor state of the hotel. Hilton need to throw some money at it. The customers and staff deserve better. Can’t recommend until major maintenance is done.

Double room was fine. Only had one small chair in it and it could have done with a blind. Window looked right on to the car park where workman were and they could see in to the room and any guests using that car park. Not ideal when trying to read and relax on the bed. I had to close the curtains and put lights on in the middle of the afternoon.
