Room and staff in the hotel were excellent, very friendly and approachable. The reason I have not given 5 stars was our experience at the restaurant, we waited for over an hour just for our starters, actually left before main arrived as we had been sitting in the restaurant for over 90 minutes which was not acceptable. We did speak to the catering manager and reception. We were told that there was a big group upstairs for an event, however this should have been accounted for and not affect regular diners in the restaurant. To end on a positive, we would come back to this hotel because location was perfect, amenities good and attitude of staff was really good and very welcoming.

Have stayed here a few times as both our boys are at Durham Uni. Lovely but expensive (for us) hotel, usually use Tesco vouchers to keep cost down. Stayed one night during Lumiere. Disappointed that only one bath towel in bathroom (two of us staying), shower gel bottle was empty, and husband waited ages and had to ask twice for his omelette at breakfast. All other stays have been fine.

The Car Parking arrangement (new since my last visit) is a complete pain! Downloading App and too much hassle, to be then faced with a check in queue of six people with ONLY ONE PERSON on reception is poor resource planning for peak check in time! (5.30/5.45pm)

Large ‘business’ hotel close to the centre of Durham. Public areas catered for large numbers of people but were fairly soulless. Room was spacious and comfortable.
