1. Launching Options Right from the Estate
The Private Dock: You can launch your kayak or canoe directly from our backyard dock. It is the perfect spot for a tranquil sunrise paddle or an evening cast into the river.Nearby Scenic Drops: If you want to load up your vehicles to explore a different vantage point, head down the road to the Elgin Grove Boat Ramp (just a 2-minute drive away) or the public Pico Road Boat Ramp, both offering easy, low-traffic water access.
2. Local Bait, Gas, & Gear HubsIf you are bringing your own boat or want to gear up for a big catch, these local mainstays have you covered:For Bait & Tackle: Head just across the bridge into downtown to visit Blanpro Bait and Tackle (located right at the city boat ramp). They have an excellent selection of live minnows, shiners, worms, and expert local fishing reports. Another great choice is Messer's Westside Bait & Tackle on Highway 19.For Boat Fuel: If you are trailering your water toys, stop by the Crystal Cove Marina Fuel Station or hit Betcha Bass Baitshop nearby in Welaka for non-ethanol fuel, snacks, and gear.

Paddle across or parallel to the shore toward Boathouse Riverfront Park in downtown Palatka. It features a beautiful waterfront boardwalk and docks where you can tie up to grab a bite to eat at a local downtown diner.
Lake George Day Trip: Hook up your boat trailer and drive just south to Lake George, the "Bass Capital" of the region. It is world-renowned for monster largemouth bass and offers massive expanses of pristine water to explore.
4. Crucial River Safety & Navigation
Rules The St. Johns River Flows North: Keep in mind that the St. Johns is one of the few rivers in the world that flows lazily to the north. Always check the wind and river currents before heading out so your paddle back to our dock is a breeze!
Tandem Paddling Tip: For both the kayak and canoe, place the more experienced or stronger paddler in the back seat. The rear paddler is responsible for steering, while the front paddler sets the rhythm and keeps an eye out for shallow river debris'.
Life Jackets Required: Florida law requires a life jacket (PFD) on board for every passenger. We provide these for your safety, so please wear them while out on the water!
