Fab hotel. Easy to get to from Princes street tram stop (prepare for an uphill walk and steps, we took the step free route on the way back!). Room was perfect for my 11 year old and me. Views of the castle from the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were great. Use of pool and sauna in the sister hotel 1 minute down the road was an added bonus. Loved this hotel.

Good sized rooms with comfortable bed and a shower and small bath which is rare. Breakfast was good and check in staff nice. Down side is if you ask for something they are not prepared of it takes a long time to resolve. For example we asked reception for a corkscrew and 2 hrs later they had still not been able to locate one and we ended up heading out

Room was so hot couldn’t sleep and this was in December so can’t imagine what it’s like in summer. It was 28 degrees at night and no AC. Wish I’d checked and would not book again due room temperature. To make matters worse duvet was cheap polyester type and had to remove duvet and sleep under only duvet cover.

The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and the staff went above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely too. The rooms were a little dated decor wise but pleasant. My dad had a couple of issues with his room, but as soon as we reported these to reception they sorted them out within minutes. The location is great, the castle is very close and we could walk to other areas easily from the hotel. It’s also reasonably close to the train station too. We enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh.
